What did you do??

Re: How was your weekend?

  • Friday night we went to Noodles to use one of L's birthday coupons. Caught up on tv after the kids went to bed.

Saturday we headed to a St. Patty's Day parade after the kids' swimming lesson. It is a tradition that I go to a bar/restaurant with a friend and all of her extended family/friends. Been going for 18 years (aside from a few years here and there.) Went for my annual 'beer before noon' and lunch and then to watch the parade. It was so nice out! Home for a bit before using another one of L's birthday coupons for dinner.

Sunday - a friend came over and went with us to take the kids to see The Lorax (not all that great) and then lunch at the mall. When we got home I took a nap thanks to a blinding headache while L and the kids worked on putting the HP Lego set together. They continued to work on it while I puttered around the house and got ready for the week. Kids went to bed early we watched tv.

  • Fri: Picked Ky up and went home to make pizza dough. When Ann got home we made pizza and Ky went to bed. We ate pizza while watching Netflix.

Sat: Up early with Ky. She ate breakfast while I got dressed and gathered my coupons/grocery bags/etc. We picked up my parents car payment and went to the bank. I dropped Ky off with Ann's parents and headed to the store. When I got home I found Eloise had her puppies (we expected htem earlier this week). I got her area all cleaned and gave her fresh bedding before eating lunch. I cleaned and made pb cupcakes with chocolate drizzle (2moms2twins I have not forgotten about you I just have not had time to type out the recipe!). We went to our friends house when Ann got home to play cards. Got home super late.

Sun: Slept in...yeah! Had breakfast and sat around the house a while before getting Ky.Ann had agreed to go shooting with her dad so I was solo with Ky. I had started feeling some asthma issues Friday night but dismissed them...bad idea. I broke down about an hour after we got home because I felt awful and could not catch my breath. I called my mom and she came to get Ky and I went to Urgent Care. After a breathing treatment I felt a million times better. They gave me a new inhaler and a steroid prescription. I fiinally got a hold of Ann who picked up Ky from my mom and met me at home. She cooked dinner and got Ky ready for bed all while I stayed under a heap of blankets on the couch. We wathced a movie and went to bed early.

  • Overall, really nice.

Friday - seems like ages ago, but we went out for sushi.  Not the best sushi we've had but Jelly Bean enjoyed herself and both K and I got to enjoy a nice drink (or two). Stick out tongue

Saturday - K took a day off from writing (!!) and went with JB and I to a kids festival.  We met up with a friend and her two sons.  The kids seemed to enjoy the arts and crafts and I picked up some good info from local kids related stores/vendors.  Afterwards we all went for lunch and then grabbed cheesecake.

Sunday - I was in a weird mood.  It was one of those moods where nothing is actually wrong but things just aren't right. kwim?  Anyway, K went off to write so I tried to run some errands with DD but DD was getting on my every nerve so we cut our errands short.  Dinner, bath, bed for DD and then wine and leftover cheesecake on the couch for me. :-)

I had to.  I just did not have the patience yesterday.  And it wasn't that DD was doing anything awful.  She was sitting in the front of the cart but the entire time she was either 1)kicking me (not on purpose, but so annoying) and 2) asking for elmo.  I swear I want to kill whoever introduced her to elmo.  I'm pushing the cart and she's "elmo. elmo. elmo. elmo."  NO!! You are not going to watch elmo on my phone while we are shopping! And stop kicking me!  I didn't lose it on her but I was just in one of those moods that I knew I could have.  So we left the store, went home, and found things she could do without annoying me. Wink

  • Friday: I wish I could remember. I don't even remember it being my day off. I came in today to a host of emails and I told my boss that something was up with my email because these emails did not come in on Friday. She gently told me that I was off on Friday. OOPS! Embarrassed

Saturday: We went to look at some places to have the Kiddos birthday party. Sadly, nothing is jumping out at us and our house is way too small. The Kiddos swung on the swings for a bit then we went to check out another place and ended up having lunch there. Our poor Little Man was eating his favorite yogurt (Chobani) and when he finished he was shivering. Come to find out the yogurt was ice cold. We went home and the Kiddos took a pretty decent nap. After that it was goofing around, story reading, and climbing on Mommy (C). We went to Don Pablo's for dinner, it was GREAT and the Kiddos were on their best behavior. Once we got home off to bed the Kiddos went. C and I watched Psych (I fell asleep of course) but C watched until 3 am...at which point Peanut woke up. Needless to say C did not get much sleep.

Sunday: Little Man and I had two hours of playing time in the morning (C and Peanut were asleep). It was SO FUN. I read to him, we played ball, I swept (at his command), and so on. I was even able to get a cup of coffee in. He heard Peanut the second she woke up and his eyes beamed...he just had to go see his sister. Sadly, Peanut's right eye was half shut and weeping. The other eye wasn't as swollen. C called the pediatrician and we took her in (our pediatrician's practice has weekend hours). Lo' and behold she has pink eye. The doc was nice enough to write an extra script for Little Man...she says he is next. We went to TGIF for lunch and then to Target to get the script and do a little bit of shopping. I tried to put the Kiddos down for a nap, but Peanut wasn't having it. So C took Peanut to Costco while I began to clean the kitchen. That was short-lived...Little Man woke up and went into complete meltdown when he realized neither Mommy nor Peanut were home. It took a good half an hour to calm him. Then he and I jointly cleaned up. Once C got home it was dinner, playtime with Mommy, and then I gave them a nice long bath. C and I watched some TV for a bit and then off too bed.

  • J worked Fri, Sat, and Sun so I kept the kids busy this weekend.   J's brother took the car on Saturday to do a brake and oil change while J and I worked on a report she needed to do for work.  We ran some errands after dinner when we got the car back, came home, put the kids to bed, and watched tv.

Sunday ended up being a cleaning day.  I got our bedroom cleaned, dishes done, and a lot of laundry done.  When J got home, we grabbed dinner and went to her parents house.

  • Friday-  Happy Hour with co-workers.  Then home...exhausted.  Spring break is here yay!!  Prepped for weekend with nephew since his parent were finally going to clean their disgusting house.

Saturday-  We had our 4 year old nephew.  He was a nightmare upon arrival because his parents fed him peanut butter cups for breakfast.  I COULD HAVE KILLED THEM.  We finally got him settles down and ran our weekend errands with him in tow.  He makes grocery shopping fun though.  We took him to a gigantic all near where we live to see The Lorax.  It was only his second time at the movies and he did so great.  Then we went to the bookstore and bought him a couple of books, dinner, and home. I had to sleep with a foot crammed in my back so I had a bad sleep.

Sunday-  He woke up at 4:30 am.  UGGGG.  It was really windy and his parent didnt send him warm clothes so despite some sunshine we stayed indoors.  We played with hs trains alot while my wife tutored a good friend in math.  He really was having a bit of meltdown around three and proceeded to call me a "ba$tard who%eface"  So into time out and I had a LONG chat with mom and dad.

I am frustrated with their neglectful parenting (parked in front of the TV and ignoring him) and the things they say/do around him.  UGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I really feel like a social worker needs to get involved but am having a lot of conflict about it.  They know it will be me that called and I do not want them to not allow me to see him because we can at least keep an eye on him and make sure he is OK.

We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!

Based on what little you post here about him, I am going to venture a guess that CPS won't get involved..especially in AA County (don't get me started on AA CPS.) Neglect is really hard to substantiate and even though feeding PB cups for breakfast, sitting in front of the tv, or exposure to that lovely language is totally not appropriate, CPS won't intervene based on those things/those types of things.

We went to that big mall on Sunday to see The Lorax. :)

Yeah I know they are really difficult here, I ran a school age child care center for 4 years and used to bang my head against the wall.

There are other issues going on as well such as discipline type things.  The problem is his parents love him but are both LD (ie my brother is 27 and cant read) and need some intervention services BAD.  If I could get social services in the door I know some intervention would occur based on the condition of the house itself, it is so not safe and is filthy.  It is cleaner inside my tent.  We are really working hard to get him in full day Pre-K this coming year because his parent are resisting and not staying consistent with potty training so hopefully once we can get him in school he will be spending a good deal of time with others that will be monitoring him.

On a happier note, he loved the movie.  Did your little guys like it?

  • Friday E's nana and papa picked her up from school so they could have a visit. I took the time to run a few errands.  E came home around 8pm from her nana and papa?s and was tired and out of sorts (it was Dr. Seuss day at her school and I think she was just over stimulated with a busy day).

Saturday morning E woke up at 6:15 because she had a bad dream. There was no more sleeping after that. Crying The cable guy called asking if he could come that morning...cue the mad scramble to do things I thought I had all morning to do and hop in the shower before he got there! About 30 minutes before the installation was done our power went out. Nice. So he walked me through what he could and said to call him when the power was on. Then we headed off to E's dentist. He predicted she would lose her first tooth by last night and said she has no cavities. Yay! When we got home our power had returned and I ended up spending what felt like half the afternoon on the phone with the cable guy trying to get things set up. We spent the afternoon at home doing a little cooking and Em doing a lot of drawing and coloring.

Yesterday we met two work friends, one with a 7 year old daughter for a day in the city. We went to Pike Place Market, had lunch at Ivar?s, went to the aquarium and did the boat tour around the bay. When we were on the boat my friend helped E get her tooth out. I said I couldn?t do it, I didn?t want to hurt her. I see all kinds of things at work but I can?t cause my kid any pain! After that E and I stopped at a cupcake place for dessert on our way to K?s. We had pizza and salad and yummy cupcakes and watched a dog movie that E half watched since she was busy feeding and petting K's kitties. J

The tooth fairy visited E for the first time last night and it's a darn good thing she remembered because it was the first thing E looked for this morning!

  • Pretty much as planned, and definitely not long enough!

Saturday hanging out at home, errands, laundry etc.  I read a Michael Pollen book DW had  been bugging me to read.  Sunday we had our IUI bright and early, then met a friend for brunch (mm..pb hot chocolate!!) and went to a museum of folk art, which was entertaining considering it was free.    I fell asleep when we got home, and DW was nice enough to start roasting our chicken dinner while I napped.

LV - Sounds like frustrating behavior from your nephew's parents!!  But I agree with 2brides that it doesn't sound like an issue CPS will do much about.  Good luck.

TTC with PCOS since July 2011.

Yea, that is rough. Especially when parents don't want the other services they are entitled to (and need.) What about DDA (Developmental Disabilities Admin?) Are they involved with them?

Anyway - They thought The Lorax was okay - but certainly not one we will buy. We see almost all kids movies that come out and that ranked towards the bottom. :( But they liked the popcorn! :)

All weekends should end like this...  ;-)

Ours was nice. Saturday was low-key, which was nice. We went for a walk, make some homemade dog biscuits, and just relaxed a bunch. Gwen watched her first episode of Sesame Street, which was neat.

Sunday we met some friends and their kids at the orchid extravaganza, which was gorgeous! The girls has so much fun together too, which was neat.

  • Friday - I had off work so I cleaned the house (really scrubbed on hands and knees) while txting EV pics of my progress.  Firday night we ordered pizza and watched Tower Heist, it was surprisingly good :)

Saturday - Was kind of an awkward day, we missed the boat on breakfast.B the time we made it downtown there were lines out the door at our favorite restaurants so we grabbed Noahs Bagels and proceeded to run errands all day. Clothes shopping, fabric store, etc. Then Saturday night I exploded at EV over the tiniest thing. I had just finished making brownies (out of the box) and I even flicked water on her when I walked by I was so mad.  Granted she has been in a bad mood too - but really it's my crazy hormones, I feel like an out of control teenager sometimes. Anyway she left for a couple of hours and I watched the Cutest Kittens and Puppies on Animal Planet. Everything was good later, but I didn't manage to apologize until today - lol. I guess I'm trying to figure out how I can actually make amends, because I just can't control my emotions weepy, to happy to anger in 0-60 seconds. It's pretty crazy.

Sunday - We went to a Circus Perfomance wedding 1 1/2 hrs North of where we live.  It was actually really cool, belly dancers, singers, a magic show, popcorn, hot dogs, cotton candy and the grand finale wedding. It was well done and had a 1920's theme.

  • Fri we watched a movie ("Family Secrets-- recorded one from OWN network.  Have I told you how I love "Our America with Lisa Ling" and am consistently disappointed with the small amount of new programming on that channel?  I am really disappointed, Oprah!"

Sat--ran some errands, caught up on house stuff!  Got ready for....

Week long respite care with Pumpkin's 4 yo sister!!!  We picked her up Sun at noon, so far it's going so well. She loves giving Pumpkin and Bingo (dog) hugs!

    OMG!! awesome!!

  • Friday...I cannot remember for the life of me. oh well.

Satuday morning my babe and I went to look at flowers with a friend of mine and her littlest, then the four of us went out for lunch. I took the boy home and tried to lay him down for a nap, but he just wanted more "pichers!" so it turned into quiet time in his crib. which turned into him getting hold of his diaper bag and throwing diapers all over the room. which led to us hearing "I got it! I got it!" from the other room, and when we went in to see what he had gotten we discovered him sitting on the rail of his crib grinning up a storm and bouncing like he was riding a pony in a sea of diapers. sigh.

Saturday night we went to our friends' house for cards/games so my Monkey got to stay up late. he fell asleep on their couch and we got home really late (or, um, early depending on how you look at it), but we all slept in on Sunday. then we ran a few errands and went to the grocery. Sunday afternoon we changed his crib to the toddler bed. it was a busy weekend!
