1st Trimester

? Pregnant?

Im just looking for some 2nd opinions.  I was on Tri-Sprintec and was spotting a lot in December so I skipped my placebo pills he week I'm supposed to get my period and just start the next pack.  I'd done this before and never had a problem.  Well two weeks ago Thursday I stopped the pills.  The pack was supposed to e up Saturday and I was going on vacation and didn't want to pack another thing.  Since then I have not gotten a period and have had a lot of cramping.  I've taken 3 pregnancy tests and the first had a faint line but nothing definite.  So I took an EPT with the words pregnant or not pregnant two days later and it said not pregnant.  So took another one this past Tuesday an again said no. I called my OBGYN and her nurse said I'm not getting my period because I screwed up the pill cycle.  I just find thy hard I believe because my whole time on the pill I always get my period within two days of taking the last pill.  So I'm still having the cramping and the area around my uterus just feels really full and bloate like when I was pregnant with my first child.    Also starting yesterday I've had some white discharge that is very thick and mucusy which is definitely not normal for me.  Also have had some nausea as well but have had a cold recently.

  • Faint line says positive to me, but with the EPT pointing to 'no', I'm not sure.  Maybe take another test today and then book with your OBGyn?

  • A faint line is a positive - your body may not have made enough HCG as of yet to be picked up on a digital.  I'd wait a few more days and try the digital again.
  • A line is a line as long as you read it within the 10 min time frame. Maybe go out and get a FRER and try again with FMU. Digis aren't as sensitive. Good luck.

  • Was it a blue dye test or a pink dye? I have had a few evap lines on cheap blue tests *target brand mainly* over the years that I interpreted as positives and then got my period a week or so later. Changing up my pill cycle always altered my period start dates and when I went off of the pill I didn't get a period for almost 7 months so it could definitely just be a birth control pill thing ... I'd wait a few days and test again!

  • I think your cycle is just off because of the change in your pill schedule.  Test again in a few days, just to be on the safe side, but I doubt you're pregnant if you were taking the pill consistently.

I agree with this poster. It sounds like you are just off. It's insanely rare to get pregnant on the pill.

I wouldn't say "insanely rare" and she messed with the pills, so she wasn't taking them exactly as prescribed, so there is a greater chance, IMO.

Depending on the test you got a positive with and the timing of taking the second, I would most definitely take another pink dye (First Response is most recommended) test with your FMU (first morning urine) as that has the highest concentration of HCG.

If that is negative, then yes, you are probably just off due to the mixing of pills.
