When to tell?

in 1st Trimester

Hey ladies! Looking for some advice... I am dying to tell our friends and family that we are pregnant with our first baby (and my parents first grandbaby!) But we aren't even quite 5 weeks pregnant yet. I want to wait until my first OB appt. (not til April 4th!) to make sure everything is ok... but I'm not sure I can wait that long. I've already had people ask me if I'm pregnant, and I'm not a good liar! What did y'all do?

    we told immediate family the weekend after i got my bfp.  i told a few friends around 8wks.  at 12wks we will letthecat out of the bag...

     

    id go ahead and tell your parents/siblings now if you can trust them to keep your secret until you make it to the doc.

    we told my parents right away ... a few close family members and then my DHs family today at 6 weeks..... think i'll wait to spill the beans to everyone else close to me for a couple of weeks!

    I know it's still early but we told right away as well. i've been loving all the support. Congrats again!

    We haven't told anyone yet but I am pretty sure that his parents know something is up. The only people who know anything that I know of is one of my friends that was over this week and she possibly told her boyfriend which is my boyfriends brother and he has a HUGE mouth so I'm sure he has told his mom and dad. They haven't said anything to me or asked me anything yet though. We are trying to keep it on the down low until we are both ready. I just want to wait until about 10 weeks or more.

    We have told our parents, and I have told my BFF.  I think we are waiting for the first u/s to tell people.  I miscarried at almost 14 weeks, so I don't personally feel waiting until 2nd trimester matters, I was 2nd trimester, had had a h/b and everything.  

    I am waiting this time longer than I usually would, since some people don't even know I miscarried yet, and I just don't want the "don't you own a tv" comments. 

    My miscarriage was devastating, but many people offered wonderful support, I would hate to have to bare this pain in secret.  At least everyone knows why I am not myself.

    Thanks for the good advice! I am thinking we will tell family and close friends when I am about 6 weeks along. I was thinking about giving my parents and my DH's parents frames with a picture of the positive pg test in it. Do you guys think it would be silly or neat to give siblings and friends invitations to our baby's birth day and tell them that way! Let me know :)

    Well because im only 19 years old and this pregnancy was unplanned, my house mate knew straight away when she heard sobs from the bathroom, I then told my boyfriend, and parents straight away!
    I was 7 weeks then. and i wanted to wait till i was past 12 weeks to tell most people, but it ended up spreading round town by the following week... i was hearbroken i didnt get to tell my friends myself so make sure that doesnt happen to you!

    We haven't told anyone yet and don't plan to unless we're kinda forced to. I'm traveling with a girlfriend in about a week, and she will want to have wine. I think I'll probably have to tell her because she'll know something is up. My first OB appointment is 3/20, so I'll feel more comfortable telling our parents and friends after that.

    Telling people is kind of your own preference. So far only 3 people I personally know, know we are pg-- DH (of course), one of my gfs and one of my teammates from my hockey team (we only had 2 games left in the playoffs so I'm going to continue to play since it is a non-contact league). I wanted him to know in case something happens and also someone to look out for me on the ice. I haven't even told my mom yet but I think she might suspect it already (Even though I keep telling her I'm not). 

    DH doesn't want to tell anyone till we are at least 12 weeks along. I, on the other hand, would like to tell a couple people. He doesn't care who I tell but he's not telling anyone. I have a handful of people I want to tell but we will wait till we see the heartbeat first there. My mom will know before we go on our trip in just less than 3 weeks. Everyone else will be around 12 weeks (including DH's family--big mouths) and out of the 1st tri for the rest of the world.
