which carrier???

I have the Moby, but Charlie gets too sweaty in that and it's a PITA to put on. I would like a carrier for when I am out running errands so I don't have to haul the carseat all around.  I went back a few pages on this board because I know people post frequently asking this same annoying question.  All that accomplished was making me even more indecisive about which one to get! I think I have it narrowed down to an Ergo, Boba or Beco (butterfly or gemini??) Are there any major pros/cons to one of those carrier or are they all pretty much the same.  I like the option of being able to do forward facing once in a while, but being a FTM i'm not sure how much babies even like that.

TIA!

Re: which carrier???

  • Generally forward facing carries are not recommended.  of the carriers you listed only the beco gemini allows for it.

We have the Beco Butterfly II and love it, but only when we're out for a while.

We use a ring sling in the beginning.  It's fast and easy and super comfy.  I didn't like how the Beco fit a little baby, it was awkward with the infant insert and was just never super comfy.

  • Do you have anywhere you can go and try out different carriers?  Each carrier fits each person differently.  I started with and Ergo because everyone loves them.  It didn't work for DD and I.  I tried a Becco Butterfly and we both loved it.  My husband loves both.  I have no experience with a Boba.  I know places such as granolababies.com has a rental program so you can try out different carriers.

  • Thank you both for the response! And thank you for the information about forward carrying- I did not know that was not recommended!  I just ordered the Butterfly 2 off of quirkybaby.com as a rental! I'm excited to try it out and excited to try it for 20 dollars instead of buying it and finding out it doesn't work for us!
  • I suggest a well made ring sling, like zolowear
  • I have, and love, an Ergo Sport and a Beco Gemini.  Both are great.  I slightly prefer my Gemini, but I got it for Christmas, so only had the Ergo in the earlier days (with the insert or a blanket), and I absolutely loved it also.  GL.

  • We use a K'Tan (mostly for around the house -- at least for now) and an Ergo Performance (with the insert).  Both can get really hot and the K'Tan can lose its shape (but regains it after a wash and dry).  Otherwise, we really like both.  I think the forward facing position is an option with the K'Tan but not the Ergo.
