tile floors and crawlers

We only have carpet in our bedrooms and not that Danica is crawling I am nervous she's gonna smack her head if she gets off balance. Currently, I do not let her crawl on the tile floor but I'm sure eventually I won't be able to stop her and I really wouldn't mind if she did so as long as it's safe this way she can explore the house a little

Any tips?? What about a helmet?? Think that would work?

Re: tile floors and crawlers

  • The ILs have all wood floors and Tristan has definitely conked his head a couple of times. But he is fine! And he has also learned to balance himself better and hardly ever falls over now. Not that I wanted to hit his head or anything, but he seems all the wiser because he fell over a few times.

  • We have wood floors. Owen hasent started crawling yet but I'm not sure there is much you can do about the hard floors. Hopefully after a couple of head bonks they will be more careful:)

  • I agree with PP but I do have a friend who has marble floors and she was worried about the same thing when her youngest LO started crawling and she got these things and put them on her floors.

I have a wood floor in Evie's room and I want to get some like this but in a color to match her room for when she's old enough she starts playing in her room, but mostly to protect the floor from her.

I've seen these before! Not something I could lay all over the house but definitely on the back porch or something where we spend a lot of time.

I guess she will have to learn to balance herself. I am just scared she will hit her head so hard on the floor she will crack it open. I can't deal with blood. I hate to think of that but I always think the worst in a lot of situations.

  • I think she's less likely to bang her head crawling then when she's sitting up or trying to get down from sitting up.  Our LO had only bonked his head once when crawling but when he was just learning to sit by himself and get back down, he'd fall back quite often.  We just placed the boppy behind him whenever he stopped.  It was only ~2 wks before he seemed steady enough while sitting that we stopped worrying about the pillow.  He's now pulling up on everything and so we're back to worrying about him falling onto the corners of any piece of furniture we have!

  • Thanks for making me worried about something else lol.

Tim never crawled and Nicks not crawling yet so I never thought about it. ... Shoot I forgot what else I was going to say.

Our pedi said most kids when they hit their head it's going to be the forehead or back of their head which I guess it the least dangerous. I mentioned it our pedi because Tim had 2 serious head falls in a short span (first down our front steps and 2nd flipped out of the stroller backwards) and wanted to know what to look for.

I forgot where I was going with that too. I think I need sleep lol.

I'll try and come back when I;m not rambling lol .

And I've seen those things but they are so darn expensive
