Skunk smell from my hemps.

Help! I can NOT get my hemp inserts to not smell anymore. I have washed and washed and stripped and stripped. Nothing seems to be working. They just smell as if you washed something poopy and washed it (when they are clean).. which sure, that is what happened. But when my son has soiled them, they smell like skunk. I used to use the tide original powder but have switched to rock n green. I have had/been using them since December and bought them brand new.

I just ran mine with non chlorine bleach and that took care of all the smell issues.

Sorry you are having such a problem!

Sometimes sunning works to get rid of stubborn smells. If your inserts are having a barnyard/poopy smell that usually means that you aren't using enough detergent or enough water to get them clean.

(I realize it's snowing here today in the metro area, but maybe we will get some sun soon.)

It could be your detergent. Are you open to trying tide again or upping how much RNG you use?

Do you have hard water? That was the source of our stinkies-- the hard water caused detergent build-up, which caused the smell. The remedy for us was detergent + Calgon, and we've recently put a bit of Funk Rock in the mix, too.
