Hi, all. I'm hopping over from TTTC to ask a quick question. I found out yesterday that my follies are not maturing, even when on Femara. The largest one was a 7.5. My dr. suspected that this has been our issue all along (we're currently on cycle 16 of TTC and I had low FSH according to CD3 b/w).
He did say that my ovaries looked good with plenty of eggs, but they're not growing like they should be. I chart and use OPKs, so I know that I ovulate regularly (around CD19 each month).
Have any of you had this issue? What ultimately worked? I'm guessing if Femara did nothing for me, then Clomid won't either, but my doctor wants me to at least try that next (after I get the HSG).
Thanks for any insight.
Re: Follicles aren't maturing...any insight?
IUI#2 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 5-9) = BFN
IUI#3 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP!
beta #1 11/23 = 270, P4 = 75
beta #2 11/28 = 2055
Our daughter E was born 7/29/2012!
Surprise, our 2nd daughter P was born 5/22/14!
PP is right, but it is normally the other way around, people who do not respond on clomid often do on femara. I really haven't heard if it working in the other direction (which I guess is why you can't assume it won't). That being said, I'm bothered by the fact that you are only now getting your HSG. Are you doing this through an OB or RE? Also, if your FSH is an issue, what are your AMH and AFC? They should be looked at together to paint a complete picture. Either way, the only harm in trying clomid would be possibly wasting time, so if you're ok with that, then go for it. Personally, after all this time, I would go for the next step up, which would be injectable meds. Whatever you decide, I wish you lots of luck!
ETA: It also looks by your sig that this is your first cycle on femara. If so, they can up your dosage to 5 or 7.5mg. I wouldn't give up on that after one try.
Thanks for your input. I'm seeing a RE. He gave us the option of trying a medicated cycle without doing the HSG b/c we are 100% OOP. I appreciated him at least letting us try a cycle just to see what would happen. But, he said yesterday that he would really like to have the HSG done now before moving forward.
I don't know what my AMH and AFC are...all I know is that during our first consult with the RE, he briefly mentioned that my FSH was slightly lower than what he usually likes to see.
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
That's promising! Thanks for chiming in. Do you mind saying how much of a change you saw between 5 mg and 7.5 mg? I started with 2.5, but the doctor seemed to think he didn't want to up my dose at all on it since I responded so poorly.
