I had GD with DS a few years ago... and I still have my glucose meter and some test strips- so I've been randomly testing... seems my fasting number (today only, haven't tested it before) is high- 99. And an hour after dinner last night it was 146.
Is it possible that these numbers will level off since I'm still early in my pregnancy? Or is it likely that I have GD again?
I have my first prenatal visit this AM- just with the nurse, not dr... so I'm sure she'll tell me when I'll get tested- but I'm just curious as to when you were tested and dx with GD (primarily 2+ mamas)
TIA!!

Ugh bummer. I was really holding out hope that I wouldn't get it this time- or at least wouldn't get it until 26-28 weeks!!
How have you been managing GD this time around? Diet only? I was diet only with DS....
What are some of your favorite "GO TO" foods?
I was diagnosed at 28 weeks with #1, and 13 weeks with #2. I started diet/testing at 11 weeks because I knew there was a very good chance I had it after failing the one hour. smacb is right that you probably have it and your numbers will get worse, not better. As your hormone levels rise, so will your insulin resistance. I found it easier to deal with (most of the time) the second time around because I knew what to expect, what worked for me, and that I would survive

I was diet controlled with my son. I've been on meds with this baby since before Thanksgiving. I knew pretty early that I had it. I pushed to get tested. Cheese, nuts, meat, brocolli, greek yogurt, peanut butter.
I passed the glucose test at 10 weeks but started testing my blood sugar at 14 weeks and they were already elevated. I'm really glad I did because my doctor wasn't planning on sending me for another glucose test until 20+ weeks!
I got GD with my daughter at 28 weeks (on insulin at 33 wks). I'm 17.5 weeks and I'm already on insulin. My pancreas hates me.
Are your test stripes still good? Or have they expired? My first appointment this pregnancy they did a 1-hr on me to establish a base line and to ensure I hadn't developed GD early on. They then repeated the test every month and at 19 weeks I was diagnosed.
Box says they're good till 2013.
I got the script to have my 1 hr GTT on or before my appt on 3/12. I may try to get it done earlier, but with DS running around, I'm not so sure that will happen!
My fasting number today was 99 and my 1 hr after lunch (a sandwich on a roll) and diet pepsi was 150. I didn't really have a chance to eat a substantial breakfast, so I'm not sure if that effected my lunch numbers.
Ugh. I'm just so very upset at the thought of having GD again... and having it SOOO early!! 10-12 weeks with it, I can deal... but 30 weeks of this damn diet?!?!!? I am just beyond words.
I was dx at 28 weeks, so I've only been doing the diet for 8 days now. My favorite snack food for part of my evening snack is the new Krave double chocolate cereal - 1/2 cup has 15 g carbs in it and is enough to give me my chocolate fix. Also doing greek yogurt more than normal. I have found that the single serving containers of some things can be helpful - I was on a big mac and cheese kick when I found out about the GD, but I can still eat a single serving Velveeta container for 30 g carbs - and I get 60 g at lunch and dinner, so that works for me for some of my starch.
OP - I agree - knowing that I only have to do this for 11 weeks makes it much more bearable - I can't imagine having to do it for 30 weeks. Not fun.
