Concerning Allergies - Double sided worry

I am 14 weeks along with my second and have been seriously contemplating what would be worse; another child with the same (or some) allergies or this child having none.

Some background... my DD is from my x-husband and was diagnosed at 14 months with multiple allergies: Peanuts, Pecans, Almonds, Walnuts, Hazelnuts, Cashews, Sesame Seeds, Egg, Wheat, Soy, Orange, Beef, Bean, Cherry, Rye, Rice, Oat and all Shellfish are all the foods and then on top of those we have Dust, Ragweed, Tree of Heaven, Black Walnut, All Grasses, (2) Molds, Cat Dander and Dog Hair.

When my BF and I found out we were pregnant this has always been one of our biggest fears.

Just needed a platform to rant on.... sorry :/

Re: Concerning Allergies - Double sided worry

  • My DD is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. I will most certainly limit my second LO's diet to exclude those things. I know a family who lets the older kids eat peanut butter, etc. as long as they wash hands and brush teeth. I can't see myself doing that.

  • Oh no there will be no peanuts or tree nuts still allowed in our home considering they could kill her.  Most of her other allergies just cause hives and or raw skin patches.

I just can't imagine worrying about two while they are in school or over a friends house since worry about one takes about everything out of me.

  • Hubby and I both have food allergies. My allergist said it meant that baby would be more likely to have allergies period but NOT necessarily food allergies. Not sure if that is of any comfort or not.
