Do you consume any alcoholic beverages? It says not to on the side of my pill bottle because it can lead to lactic acidosis. Now I'm not gonna lie I do enjoy a glass of wine every once and a while, and this weekend I went out with a few friends and we had a few drinks. I had a deep burning sensation in my lower abdomen for maybe 10 minutes, then because we went dancing it went away after I started dancing. I'm wondering if this was metformin/alcohol related. Does anyone else notice any side effects from drinking while on metformin?
Re: For those on metformin...
I drink on met. I've been on 2000mg for almost two years and at first I too was worried about the warning. But then I had a few drinks and was fine. And yes, sometimes I have a few more. I try to just not take that nightly dose if I'm going to be drinking (to be on the safe side). But then again I am on it for diabetes and not for a fertility related issue, so to me I just know I'm messing with my sugars anyway with drinking - and being a bad girl. But I know my sugar levels well, and my body, and I know what I can handle.
*But does anyone else get flash backs to the movie "A Few Good Men" when they heard about Lactic acidosis?**
**Edit to add, but I have no more than one drink in the 2ww on treatment cycles. But that's due to the fertility meds and TTC, not met related.

One of my bffs is a doctor and when I was on Met I asked her about it. She said it was fine. And I def drank more than "just one or two."
HOWEVER, my stomach hurt all. the. time. while on it...I have no idea if this would have subsided if I put the wine down or not.
(PS Despite the way this post sounds...I swear I'm not an alcoholic.)
Have no fear, I don't think you're an alcoholic. Like I said, I might only have one or two during the 2ww. But there have been a few non-treatment cycles in the last two years where I was at a party and admit to getting flat out drunk. In the IF roller coaster, doing this one or two times a year is good for the soul and does not a alcoholic make.

My DH is a pharmacist.
He's says it's a not a problem. One or two drinks won't harm anything. But, if you plan on drinking like a college student, he would advise skipping the dose that night.

Ha! Thanks! I've never had a 2ww so in the meantime the only silver-lining to NOT being pregnant is not having to change my food/drink intake. Bring onnnn the goat cheese and raspberry-tinis.
