  Mine came out in pieces throughout the week before labor.  But I will say after bloody show I had the baby within 22 hours.  I also was NOT dilated or effaced until I showed up at the hospital the day of labor; I had no progress at my dr visit the day before giving birth.

  I lost the majority of mine during active labour at home, right before we left for the hospital.  The rest came out as I was being assessed in L&D.

  I lost mine at 35 weels when was 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced, but didn't have LO until 38 weeks and 3 days!

  DD1- lost a piece of it at 40w3d and contractions started within 24 hrs

  DD2- didn't start to lose it until well into active labor, 38w2d

  With DD I lost it while I was in active labor at the hospital.

  With DS I lost it at home, I was in labor.

  My NP stripped my membranes at my 10 am appointment, I lost my plug at around 11:30 am, and went into labor at 10:30 pm.  

  I did make sure to go on a couple REALLY long walk with the dog that day (I'd been doing long walks for a week or so).

  Lost mine at 38w, 4d and had a scheduled C the next day ....I was in active labor when I presented for my section and was told I would've wound up in the hospital that day even if my section was scheduled for later in my pregnancy.  GL!
