Trying to Get Pregnant

UGH! Husband has to travel for work

I'm so frustrated with my husband's work. I actually traveled with him to Canada so we could be together during ovulation this month. He's trying to figure out when he can travel again to make work happy but how am I supposed to know? This is just our second cycle to try consecutively so I have no information, really.

I'm happy they flew me out here with him this time, but they won't pay again in the future.

Hopefully things work this time so he can travel freely, but even if I do get pregnant and don't have to worry about being around him during ovulation I still want him around when I am puking my brains out and need breakfast in bed.

Ok, that's the end of my rant. I just wish work wasn't being so difficult!

  • I understand that this can be frustrating. MH just took a job where he might have to go out of town for weeks or months at a time. I don't really have any advice, but I hope that everything works out for you.

  • I definitely feel your frustration.  My husband is in the military and will be at survival school next month missing my FW, then deploys this summer.  Makes TTC a little more challenging when your husband isn't there...haha!  Hope you are able to be together when you need to be!

Thank you to you and your husband for your service to our country. I can't imagine how hard it is for you.

OP, I know how you feel. MH travels often for work. Most trips are day trips but that means he works 14+ hour days (that's with travel time) and he's too tired when he gets home to do anything. We've been trying to work through it the best we can.

  • My DH goes away for work/leisure for about 2 days every few months and I hate it so much!  We have 2 large dogs but I still can't stand when he's away, it feels so strange not to have him in bed.  Oh and if he wasn't around when I was ovulating, i'd be pretty darn upset!

  • I feel your pain but on the flip side, I'm the one on the road. Friends that know we are TTC ask how things are going and I always say that its a little hard to make a baby when you are not in the same state!

I'm sure it's frustrating if he has to travel so much. You'll just have to do the best you can to schedule it around when you think your FW will be if that's possible for him.

As for the part I quoted, most women don't have to puke their brains out in 1st tri, thank goodness, although there are a few exceptions. And if you are puking your brains out, you won't want breakfast in bed! ;-) I do understand that you want him around when you're pregnant, but the vast majority of women are not incapacitated during 1st tri, so in terms of him traveling occasionally, you should be fine once you get to that point.

  • Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation and I definitely don't think my situation is as bad as it can be. I just have to take it one day at a time!

Also, you're right about not being so sick in the 1st tri. I just assumed I would be a big whiner needing lots of attention. I'm a big girl. I can do this!
