I thought this was a gawker post too. Gus is cute, Guster is a bit cringeworthy. Name him Gus (or August, Augustus, etc) and call him The Guster if you guys think it is cute. Gus is a real name, Guster is not.

Please tell me you're not fans of the band Guster. Because if you are, and you're naming your child after the band, then you get a major side-eye.

Wait.. either way.. you get a raised eyebrow. That's a pretty odd name for a human who will someday be 40 years old.

I'd prefer you just name him Gus if you can't agree on any of the formal options for this name.

We call our Gus "Gusser" as a funny nickname, I don't see Guster as a full name.

I read the name and started singing "fa fa fafafafa" in my head. Then again, Guster is pretty well known in Maine and New Hampshire among college students (other areas too I'm sure). I would go with August or something else to have the nickname you want. It sounds like a nickname, not a full professional name.

I'd go with just Gus or choose a more formal name you and H like that can be shortened to Gus... just not Guster.

Sounds like something a meteorologist or storm tracker would say about a storm. Like others have suggested use a real name and use the NN Gus (or Guster if you must).

This is what I was going to say. DH is a big fan of The Weather Channel so it's the first thing that came to mind.

This is awful. It reminds me of gas, you know... Like the kid has gas and "gusts" all the time. I can see it being a source of teasing is what I'm saying.

August or Augustus are the best choices... Heck, even Gus on its own is a million times better than Guster.

I'm not a fan of Guster as a name either. It reminds me of the band or the character from Psych - but Guster is his last name. (First name Burton, but the characters call him Gus.) Anyway, I think you've gotten some good suggestions.

I love this band! Totally my first thought. I love Gus or Augustus. Not Guster though.
