I haven't gone in 4 days (96) hours. I have tried stool softeners, prunes, fiber, fruit...tons of water...I feel like I have to go, but I can't! It's awful. Any other suggestions?
This happened to me last week. When I finally did try going, it was painful and I couldn't get it out. I ended up going to the ER after 3 hours for some help. Hope you get relief soon. If you do end up going or needing help, you may want to have the baby monitored because after they said I was contracting probably as a result of all the pressure and trauma of trying to go.
my doctor said to try 'fleet enima' that comes in a soft fluid bottle. i am going to go to target after work. she also said i could try 'glycerene suppositories' or 'merilax non stimulant' pills or 'smooth moves tea - non stimulant'
The ER gave me a fleet enema. Then my dr told me the next day that the mineral oil of that could have caused the contractions. She said something about that sex and the enema are like the old wives tales for starting labor. Not sure how much I believe it though.
OK, I am going into the TMI zone, so if you are the least bit squeamish about these matters, stop reading now.
On Valentine's Day I had 2 hours of constipation hell. I tried a warm bath, I was in so much pain that I didn't care if I had to clean the bathtub, I just needed the pain to stop.
I was so desperate and ultimately, the only thing I could do was try not to strain and (hanging my head) try and remove what I could with my finger.
My sister works in an ER and I asked what they would do in that situation and she said the fleet enema. I think the benefits of relieving yourself that way (otherwise you could become septic) outweigh the risks of preterm labor.

I'm always going days without 'going'. Walking always helps me. Last week I shopped around Target for two hours and by the time I got home I was ready to go.
I have totally been going through this and just moments ago had major relief! Literally....seconds ago! Wooo! I started taking children's gummy fiber. I'm not sure if that did the trick. I started a couple of days ago, though I didn't take any yesterday but maybe it got things moving. I take two.

Have tried drinking a hot liquid? Drinking hot tea or coffee always makes me go. Although regular coffee works faster than decaf, I guess it just depends on your caffeine intake. Hot liquids should help things to move along (and not just one cup you may need 2-3 in a day).

praying something works.
Try a glycerin supository. I was desperate and never thought it was something I would try. You will have relief in 15 minutes.

This! I just used this with my DD and it worked superfast to clear the backup.
