Hi ladies! First of all, congratulations to you all for making it to the 1st Tri board!
I'm kind of a lurker, but recently started posting on the BOTB board because DH and I decided that I will go off the pill in August to start TTC. I know it's different with everyone, but I am just curious to hear some stories from you on how long it took you to get your BFP after going off the pill?
I'm kind of worried that it could take us awhile because I have been on the pill for a long time and also because I have endometriosis (which is now under control after being on lupron for 6 months). This makes me wonder if I should go off the pill sooner than we are planning..
Re: Going off the pill. How long did it take TGP?
I was on the pill for many years and stopped taking it in Novemebr 2011. I got pregnant at the end of December! So.. It can happen very quickly.
Good luck and don't stress about it!
DH and I were lucky enough to conceive the first time I ovulated off of the pill. However, it did take about 4 months for ovulation to occur!
I went off the pill in early October. No BFP or AF 70 days later and I went on Provera to jump start my period. By that time I had started temping/charting/ using OPKS and confirmed ovulation 32 days into my next cycle. 10 days later, I had my BFP!
I took birth control for 3 months when I was 17 and it made me sick/crazy! So I haven't been on birth control since and it took us 13 months to get our BFP. That's just me though! Good luck to you!
It took about 34 months after stopping the pill for us to get PG. Hopefully you won't be anywhere near that long. GL!

I stopped taking the pill in July 2011. It took until January to get the BFP but I had to figure out my cycles after the pill. I ended up charting and using OPKs to figure it out.

Same here. I was on some form of birth control for 20 years, most recently the pill for the last 12. I also stopped taking it mid November and conceived sometime in the first week of January. As been said before, just relax and let things take their natural course.
We conceived in the third month off birth control. I had been using the patch instead of a pill though, not sure if that makes a difference! My cycles were regular from the first month off - this isn't always the case for everyone though.
Try not to stress too much!

I had been on the pill for 16 years. I stopped taking it in July 2011, we started trying in Aug 2011 and got a BFP earlier this month. So, it took us 6 months.
You should check out the TTGP board too - those girls are super helpful with questions and support. They'll also tell you it can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive. So, don't feel down if it doesn't happen quickly for you.
Hello! I was on the pill for only about 2 years. I got off of it in January 2011 and found out we conceived January 2012. So a whole year for me! Good luck to you!
With DS I was on BCP for almost 8 years... got off in October and TTA until April... then got BFP in July!
This pregnancy I was on BCP for 1.5 years and got my BFP the first month off the pill! We were very fortunate that I got pg right away and didn't even have an AF (other than the initial period coming off the pill)
GL!
I was off the pill for a year before we started TTC...once we started it took us 6 months.
Cute dog by the way!!!
My super all about me birth story:
Then: Fraternal twins born at 26 weeks in 1983. Me: 640 grams. Brother: 840 grams. Family kept watch in the NICU for 5 months before being allowed to go home. On oxygen for a year and a half after being released.
Now: Me: PhD student and married. Brother: Lawyer and married.
Dad's wedding speech: Thank you to all the family who stood watch and prayed for our children's survival. Well now the little scrawny chicken is married. Who would've thought? (Thanks dad for making me laugh and cry at the same time).

The first time I got pregnant, I was off the pill for 5 months. We were using protection because we weren't quite ready to get pregnant (I was in graduate school). I went off because we wanted to try 8 months from the time I went off the pill and I wanted my body to try to regulate itself after I was on the pill for 10 years. Well...it only took ONE time that we weren't careful and BAM! I got pregnant. It was a shocker because my cycle is sooo random. We were of course excited, and I ended up giving birth a month before graduating from my master's program.
This time, I went off the pill in December and got pregnant within a month--before I even got AF. Obviously everyone is different...this was just my experience. I am very thankful that it was so easy for me to get pregnant!
I was on the pill for 14 years...went off in December...and just got my BFP this cycle...again everyone is different...GL!!
Haha, Thanks! Your dog is cute too!!
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
Lurking on other boards tonight...
I went off the pill in April 2009 and was (unexpectedly) pregnant in May but that pregnancy ended up being a chemical pregnancy and we lost it. We decided to prevent by using condoms for the month of June so that I could have at least one normal cycle and then I was pregnant for the second time by the end of that July. At the time I had no gynecological issues that would have complicated things.
I was on the pill for 10 years, I've had a few cyst removals from my ovaries, pelvic floor problems and all sorts of other issues in mainly in 2010. I really felt that it was going to be very hard for me to get pregnant, but everyones body is different and until you try you really won't know.
We got married July, off the pill mid August. My cycles were on a good 28 days, got a BFP in October which ended quickly. Started to temp after that (4th cycle), and now I'm 12 weeks, got our BFP a few days after Christmas, I think I was about 10 or 12 dpo.
Good luck to you!
I was on bc for almost 7 years. We figured it would take sometime to become pregnant but I stopped talking it jan 5 and became pregnant with in weeks for coming off. Now we are expecting in october. Everyones body is different when coming off the pill.
Good luck

I'm so sorry about the loss of your twins! That had to be so heart breaking.
But I am happy to hear that you are expecting again! Congratulations!
Yay! Congratulations on the BFP!!!
That's probably a good idea to stop the pill a few months prior to trying.. I think I'm going to do that.. So now instead of August I will probably stop it in June. Thanks for the advice!
Thanks for the advice! And BTW, your daughter is adorable!!
