Hip issue?- RePost from CD

This may seem like an odd question but I was wondering... have you ever heard of cloth diapers giving babies issues with their bone development (i.e.. hip dysplasia)? I use Best Bottoms and I feel like it makes my LO's legs bow out more than disposables did. It's especially noticeable when we use the overnight inserts. So I'm curious if I'm just reading too much in to this or if there is reason to worry. Also, can they hinder motor development? When we do tummy time he doesn't move as much with the diapers on compared to when he has on a disposable or is naked. Again, am I over thinking this?

TIA

  • I agree with the ladies on the CD board. If CDs caused those types of problems, lots of people would have been disfigured before disposables became available.

  • i can 100% assure you that it is not bad at all.  my daughter is currently in a harness and has been since her 1 month appt) to correct the early stage of hip dysplasia and the harness keeps her in the frog leg position.  it is actually the best position for their hip development.  dont worry!

  • Agree with others!  Some doctors even recommend that parents double diaper to help with hip issues.

Even though I knew this, I was still getting worried as well.  Someone said they felt like it was harder for DD to bend with them on, and it was not the case at all....she was just into practicing her standing reflex that day and the same thing happened in sposies, it just looked different when she had her extra fluff on!
