I'm ready to start introducing formula (long story). What is the best way to slowly introduce it? Right now I'm producing about 5oz short, which equates to a full feeding for him. He hasn't had any reflux issues or issues with my diet, so I don't anticipate issues. But what is the best way to start? Do I mix some with water and breast milk in a bottle....like 25%formula, 75%BM? Or I just offer him a whole bottle of formula and see wht happens?

Re: Introducing formula - any tips?
I'm sure my advice isn't the best but I'll offer it anyway. When I was trying to switch LO off formula and onto breast milk I tried just a bottle of BM first and it upset his tummy very badly. He spit up the entire bottle. After that I tried mixing half a bottle of BM with formula and that sat on his stomach fine. No issues with that. I would imagine it could work the same going from BM to formula..
When we switched DS to formula, I tried giving him an entire bottle of formula. This resulted in projectile vomit of the entire bottle. It wasn't pretty.
What worked for us was a few days of 2 oz formula/3 oz BM (because it is usually 1 scoop of formula to 2 oz water - and you don't want to try and do 1/2 scoops), then a few days of 4 oz formula/1 oz BM and then 100% formula.
There was more spit up than normal for the first little bit, but now it has gone down.
Hope this helps!
