Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

NTR: Stupid Decorating Question - Need Opinions

Sooo, I'm off work today because I tweaked my knee and the doc said to stay off of it. HAH. I have a toddler! She's napping now, so I'm sitting and thinking. Bad idea.

Anyhoo, DH and I are trying TTC, and I got to thinking about decorating for the next nursery. DD's room is a pastel green with a Winnie the Pooh theme. The next kiddo's room is currently a deep purple. I'd like to go with a Scooby Doo theme (I'll be team green, so I plan on being able to flower it up for a girl if need be).

Here's my actual question - is a deep purple too girly for a boy, even if it's Scooby Doo? (And please keep in mind that while I'm more open minded, my husband is quite cavemanesque in that sense: blue=boy, pink=girl).

Thanks for your help!

Justin Bieber's favorite color is purple.

I'm not sure how to respond to that. LOL :)

  • I don't think a deep, eggplantish color is too girly.  But bright Mystery Machine purple could go either way.
  • I'm willing to bet you could pull it off.

  • I am already thinking about decorating for when # 2 may come along.

We aren't TTC for a little bit now but have decided to keep the nursery (also a light green, winnie the pooh theme) as is, since it is neutral.

Our current spare room, would become DD's and I am planning to princess it up for her.

Did you ever think about switching your daughter to the purple room and doing scooby doo - girly?

I've thought about that, since she loves Scooby. But I'm also afraid of making her feel unsettled with a new baby and a new room. I know we could do it, I just don't want to overdo the change coming her way, ya know?

  • Understandable.

Since DD is already nearly 15 months with no LO's on the way she will be a bit older then your DD when the change comes, it will be the transition to the big-girl bed and all that fun stuff.
