2nd Trimester

What is your plan?

My boss asked me the other day what my plan is.  And i have been thinking sort of about it but still haven't come up with a definite plan yet.  Do you plan to leave work before you are due?  How long do you plan to take off?  Do you have a birth plan at all?

Re: What is your plan?

  • I'm self-employed and WAH, so I guess I'll work until I don't want to anymore and go back when I feel like it!  Of course, that means no money!

I don't have a birth plan.  This is the 3rd delivery my OB has done for me, so we know each other well enough by now.  I didn't have one for the 1st delivery, but that's because I had a long conversation with my OB and a discussion with a nurse at the hospital and we all seemed to be in agreement.  Thankfully, I didn't have to put it in writing.

  • I thought it was pretty standard to have a plan for your leave when you tell your boss you're pregnant?  Maybe I'm too anxious to please Smile

I'm in school, but I'm planning on being there until I go into labor, and I have to come back after 6 weeks.  I'm not planning on making a birth plan.

  • We haven't worked on a birth plan at all, but have talked about when I'll stop working.  I've always planned to work right up to my due date, unless my doctor advises otherwise.  I don't plan to return to work when I have the baby, but they are holding my job for 16 weeks.

  • I'm working until I go into labor, that way I can take more time off after the baby is born. Honestly I probably will only take less than a month off. I have some paid time off I'm saving up just for that.
  • Well I have paients scheduled so I had to do figure this out 2 weeks ago..What I did was I am Due May 20th but I didnt book myself out till the 3oth of May. I am taking 4 months off and only going back 2 days a week. I work full time now but while the baby is little I want to stay home as long as possible. Some of my patients threatned to come to my house for their cleanings!?

So the days I work My DH will stay home with the baby. He can work from home so if we need someone here I have family that can pop in.?

  • Well, I plan on working up till the end, or a few days prior but I am not telling them if I am or am not coming back. I don't want to say I am if I don't plan on it & the truth is you don't know how long you can be out of work until you're in the situation. So I am leaving it as "I am leaving to have my baby, I don't have any date in mind to when I am coming back @ the moment, if you need to hire someone do so & I will wait for the next opening." They seemed to agree my response was fair..better than stringing them along & have them hold my position for me to never go back.
  • i plan to work up until I have the baby to save as much time as I can to have off. Ideally I would like to be off 6 months, but realistically, probably 4 months. I plan to look for a new job while I am off because I want to work part time when I return, but that is not an option where I am at... so we shall see
  • I am leaving work 1 1/2 weeks prior to my due date. I requested 12 weeks off, but told them that if things are going well and I am bored I'll come back earlier. I imagine I will be since I go stir crazy and besides that is the finances. I only get paid for my vacation time, which is 3 1/2 weeks total.

We talked the other day and I expressed that I want to come back only 30 hours (If I decide to go back there at all- long story but my boss kind of sucks and since it's his practice and a small office I may try to find another place closer to my home). He wasn't keen on the 30 hrs at first, but then he thought more about it and said he'd figure a way to work it out. Good. I'm NOT working full time- NO MATTER WHAT!!

I haven't thought about the birth plan yet. I know I want an epi, no c-section unless it really becomes medically necessary and no induction unless medically necessary as well. And, I want a diet coke with lime as soon as I can after giving birth!!!!

  • I plan on working up until I have the baby. (which I am reconsidering due to how crappy I feel right now) I don't have a birth plan per se, but mostly because my hospital already does a lot of the things routinely that I want. I am going to give a med free birth a go, but am realistic and know that may or may not work out.

  • I'm going to be a SAHM and my work already knows, in fact my replacement has already started.  They are letting me stay as long as I want.  My due date is April 3, I think I'm going to be done March 13.

I sort of have a birth plan, but not really.

  • I work as a school counselor.  I'm hoping to work until she's due or a few days before my EDD.  If I'm able to work until then, I'll be able to stay out about 5 months and return when school starts back in August.  Right now, we're looking at childcare options and planning for me to go back to work, but we are also considering me staying at home for at least a year.  We visited our first daycare this week, and it wasn't a very good experience.  We're definitely going to look at other options, but I just can't imagine leaving her somewhere like that.  I'm hoping we'll find something I feel really comfortable with.

  • Baby is due mid-April, I plan on working up until I go into labor if I feel up to it.  So far, I feel great, so we'll see.  I am well aware of the fact that a lot could change between now and then.  Seeing as that we are moving out of state July 1, I do no plan to return to my current place of employment after giving birth, except for perhaps on a per diem need for the month of June.  I will also probably take most of the summer off once we get moved, as I will busy setting up our household while DH starts a new practice.  I may look for part-time employment come fall depending on how I feel.  We are planning our new budget with our new income solely based on DH's income, so I don't have to work if I/we don't want me to.

  • I'm working up until about 1 1/2 weeks before my due date.  I'm going to be taking off a total of 12 weeks leave, and then hopefully will go back to work part-time if my employer permits.  As far as my birth plan, I'm wanting to do a natural birth with no drugs.  We have a birth doula to help us through the whole labor process.
