Baby on Board Signs

I saw some people commenting on these n the UO and wanted to let you ladies know that if you are ever in need of emergency assistance these signs are for the people responding to your emergency.

I unfortunately know this first hand because my friend was recently involved in a car accident with an ambulance. The ambulance driver was not paying attention to traffic ahead and hit her going about 45 to 50 mph while she was a a complete stop on the freeway. She was on her way to school and thank God did not have either of her LOs in the car with her but that asked her about her kids about 6 times to ensure they were not with her when the accident happened.

So in short yes Baby on Board signs are for emergency vehicles so they look for kids first

Re: Baby on Board Signs

  • Interesting.  Thanks for this tip.  I though about getting one but would not want to draw attention to a wack job that I have a "baby on board"

  • JMHO- I don't buy into them. I hope your friend is ok, and I'm glad her LOs weren't in the car- but im sure they would have looked/asked if there were any other passengers in the car, regardless of a BOB sign. Again, JMO. I'm a very laid momma...

  • I must be the odd man out because I actually like the baby on board signs, I think they're cute. Never realized it was disliked by so many.
  • I hadn't thought about that before, I just assumed if you were in an accident and they seen a car seat (or even parts of a car seat) that they would quickly do a complete search. I don't have a 'personal feeling' on them either way.

  • I'm not buying the whole emergency vehicle thing either. It's a sign with a suction cup that can be purchased anywhere for God's sake!! IMHO they are just a cheap way to AW that you have a child on board.  If that were the case then there should be a rule or law stating that it MUST be up when the child is actually on board and not all the damn time.

I also agree with Vigirl. Who would want to draw attention to creeps who might want to prey on you or your child?

  • I never knew that was what they were for. I got one at my baby shower but never put it in my truck, maybe now I will. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the info! I never thought about them in that manner. I always just thought they were another cute gimmick for new mamas!  But, mine is up anyway and will now stay there! :)

  • I was too busy being non-puppies and rainbows on the other post to read the UO but I don't have an opinion either way about those signs. I can see how they could draw unwanted attention potentially, but, honestly, I think most creeps would just stalk you to see if you had a LO, a sign ain't gonna do it for 'em. I can see how it could be useful for paramedics as well. Either way, to-may-to to-mah-to IMO.
