FU on I'm in labor - revised to I'm a Mom!

To recap, my water broke at about 1:50PM, I went to the dr to get a confirmation, was then admitted to L&D at about 3. Contractions started at 3 and were okay, but were getting stronger. Since everything was rushed, DH had to run home and finish packing the bag along with putting the dogs in their kennel.

DH was only gone about 40 minutes but during that time the contractions got worse. Finally at 5:30 I said I needed something to take the edge off if I wasn't progressing. Once checked I was at 9cm and within 10 minutes at 10 and ready to push. Once I could push the contractions didn't hurt (I was too late getting anything, which was fine with me). Then came the hard part. I'm not the best at pushing and after about an hour of little progress, I figured out I need to push more to the rear. Then things went faster - Dr was already there cuz another lady delivered at 6pm so he just stuck around. After a bunch of yelling at one nurse (I feel sorry about that now), I finally pushed out my baby girl.

Priya Josephine was born at 8:02pm weighing 7lbs 10 oz and 20 inches in length. DH was phenomenal during labor and tried to help out whenever he could. He has cuddled with her way more than I have so far, which is fine since I'm kind of tired. We also have successfully started breastfeeding, kind of - at least making good progress.

I did end up going natural with no meds, I even refused an IV since there is no way I could stand being tethered to something and having free range of my arm - I did have a saline stop though just in case they needed to start meds for me. I didn't get the pitocin afterwards either to help delivery the placenta and reduce the uterus - I did skin to skin contact which helped and afterbirth was out in less than 5 minutes. The only bad thing was that I did tear a little bit, but it only took 2 stiches.

The whole family is doing well and can't wait to get home. I will post pics once I figure out how from my iPad.

Sounds like everything went really well! I'm so glad you had the birth you wanted and it went really quickly! Congrats on your little girl! Can't wait for the pics!
