I suppose this is my Wednesday brag

My DS came home with his spelling test yesterday- 5/10.  ARGH!  But this a.m.he casually mentioned that his BF (NT) got 2/10.  Granted they were hard words last week, but the perspective that my son wasn't the only one who did bad made me feel better.  It's hard when you constantly feel trapped in your own world of issues, and sometimes it's the little glimpses of perspective that help the soul.

Re: I suppose this is my Wednesday brag

  • Agreed.  I am a self-pity-er, I can't lie but the other day DH and I went to get pizza by our job and when we walked in there was a man cleaning a boy up - he had to be maybe 10-12 y.o. I couldn't tell you what the boy's condition was but he was in a  motorized wheelchair with one of those joystick steering things.  The boys limbs were a bit contorted and he wasn't able to speak clearly - mostly drawled words out (and drooled).  DH and I looked at each other and we both just knew what the other was thinking - DS can run and laugh and play and when all's said and done, things could be a lot harder for us.

Perspective - is a great thing.

  • My H works at a children's hospital and sees a lot of really sad things.  So when he comes home and I'm all worked up about our DS issues, it is sometimes hard for him to think things are really that bad....
