I am short for ideas. I like to surprise people and have fun with it. For DD we had the family over for dinner and made a cake decorated with coming Sept 2010. I wanted to do custom fortune cookies but my sister in law just announced her second that way.
Give me your ideas!
Re: How did/will you announce your pg?

I love those ideas. I'm kind of thinking about sending cards with a picture of us in front of this big drawing of the word "LOVE" in my town and DH and I holding a big red heart with the ultrasound pasted on it and writing with the words "Expecting a lot of joy and a little Payne on October 3, 2012"
DH says he doesn't care for a lot of song and dance so this may not go down. lol. But it's nice to dream.
I got this shirt that has an anchor on it and says Baby on Board, so right before we leave on our cruise next weekend, I'm going to wear it and have DH take a pic of me in front of the ship.
For my close family, we made giant heart cookies with a poem on them for V-day. My parents loved the way we told them!
For work, I was thinking about making duckie shaped rice krispie treats and decorating those to share with coworkers.
If you're announcing to a LOT of people (i.e. Facebook), I would just come up with a fun way to share an ultrasound picture or something.
I hear you though, I like finding creative ways to share too. With DS, I was just too excited that I just blurted things out. I wish I had waited and been more creative then!
It said Coming Sept 2012 Baby ____ #2

Since we did IVF, we have a pic of our little embaby before the transfer I really want to use that pic along with a pic from the first U/S at 8 weeks to announce some how.
For my grandma I want to get a card done up for her for her birthday in March. It's her 100th birthday and I know it would make her day to be expecting yet another great grand child. I'll probably use the same pics that I mentioned above.

It's a girl!
So far we have announced with DS wearing a shirt I made that says "I'm going to be a big brother" - I know it's not the most original but my family has really enjoyed finding out that way. Most of them have never seen/heard of announcing that way. Some of the reactions have been classic. I love seeing them process what the shirt says and then seeing their face when it finally "clicks". And it's fun to see who is observant and who's totally oblivious.
For FB I was planning on announcing the same way - with a pic of DS in the shirt and holding an U/S picture but we'll see if I can get him to cooperate. I love some of the other ideas you ladies have - I wish I was creative like some of you!
I love this idea and may steal it. We are going on a cruise with my inlaws in April (they already know) and that would be a great way to announce on FB
I found out Valentines Day morning that I was pregnant and didn't tell DH all day until he got home from work and I gave him a "Happy Valentines Day, Dad" card (this is our first). His face was priceless! Later on we showed the card via Skype to our family and closest friends. After our first u/s we're planning on telling everyone else via facebook - there is a "Bump Ahead" road sign (e.g. "baby bump") by our Doctors office, so we're going to take a picture by it and post it on the ole' fb. Ya'll have some SUPER cute ideas though!! So much fun!!
We told both sets of parents with cards. My mom's was a "Get well soon" card (she just had surgery on her foot) that we also signed from the baby. At first she was like that's nice and then it clicked and she started screaming.
It was FIL's b-day, so we gave him a card that was perfect for annoucing. It said something about him being an awesome dad and a great FIL and inside it said "and you know who thinks you're a great grandad" and we wrote in Baby "Last Name" coming in October. He read that last line outloud and seemed confused and then it hit him and he just threw the card at MIL and ran over to give me a hug.

On Facebook I will probably post the I Love Lucy video where Lucy tells Ricky she's pregnant and just let people figure it out. I wanted to tell my dad with the video but we just called our parents/siblings and told them.
My extended family will be at my parents' house on Easter so I am torn between just letting my parents tell everyone or telling my 8 yr old cousin and let her tell everyone. She's already asked me if I was pregnant.
At work, I am pretty sure I just have to tell one person and everyone will know.

I wrote a poem for my boss : it was pretty funny... and cute, apoligizing for how I'm always going to have to pee and all the time I'll have to take off - She is a really good friend of mine- so she was really excited for us!
My 2 friends that come over for a 'girls night' every Wednesday- One of them I told this weekend in a card that I made that said "You're going to be an Auntie on the inside (she was completely surprised)... then the other girl I will tell tonight at girls night: I wrote on the top napkin on my napkin holder "Baby on the Way, Congrants! You're going to be an Auntie" and I will ask her to 'grab us the napkins' when dinner is done- she will be Shocked.
IF we can wait to tell our families untill easter-- I want to make copies of the U/S picture- and put them in a plastic egg..and put them in each of my niece and nephews easter baskets (i have 7) - and wait till one of them figures it out or runs up to one of my sisters asking what the heck the picture is of! hehe...
IF we don't wait till Easter- My parents and my IL's are comming to visit each separately after our first U/S... So I was thinking of putting pink and blue balloons in our guest room and when they walk in to put their bags in there, they will (hopefully) figure it out!
Can't wait to hear how it goes....
