Irene was on my list if we had a girl, I think it's beautiful.
Yup, Irene is on our list, too. I love that name. I think it's also Latin for "peace"? (I want to say that's right, but I'm not 100%.)
My grandmother was Eva Irene, and she hated Eva and always went by Irene. We were exceptionally close. In memory of her, if we have a girl, she'll have Irene as a middle name.

Re: Bronwyn and Irene
Bronwyn ... Hell no
Irene is classic and timeless.. I would totally do it
This
I'm in love with Bronwen (spelled like this). It's so soft and pretty.
Irene, not so much, though with the "old lady chic" name trend going on, I can see why it might be growing on you.

Bronwen is my guilty pleasure name that I know SO would NEVER agree too. LOVE it.
I hate Irene though. It sounds like a mean old woman name.
