Baby Rant: Does this make me a horrible person?

I had a friend who had a baby a few months ago. He is one of those babies that you would see an go "well...he looks healthy," because you would never say "Wow, that's an ugly baby." Now, I know it's bad luck to say someones baby is ugly, but comeon - we all know they are out there and they exist. So - does it make me a horrible person that I unfriended this person because she kept posting picture after picture after picture of her baby and I just couldn't stand seeing him every time I logged on? I feel so guilty - but I just couldn't take it anymore!! I'm horrible.

I would probably just block the person from showing up on my news feed instead of unfriend them. . . but then again I'm fairly passive aggressive.

You know, you can hide their feed instead of unfriend. Unfriending does seem kinda harsh.

I just figure I should never judge other people's babies because I never know if mine is going to turn out weird looking. =P Plus, my cousin was a really weird looking child... of course after she hit puberty she became drop-dead gorgeous.

No I actually get really annoyed with moms who post every picture and detail of their child's life. It's nice to have it all documented but that stuff is so easy to access online. Especially those who allow geocaching. My friend is a professional hacker for a software company and he did a demo on how easy it is for pedophiles to find stuff through blogging and just tracking people through the web. He gave me my sisters address, work address and had her schedule down just from her blog. It was sooooo creepy! He said you never know who's out there looking for your stuff and how easily found it is. Needless to say my sister took her blog down!

Wait - No I didn't "unfriend" I blocked them so I didn't have to see it. I agree "unfriend" is mean, and she would definately ask me why we're not friends. I just moved her so I didn't have to look anymore. But I still feel like it's mean...

I don't think blocking people is mean - they'll never know! I've done the same to people who annoy the crap outta me on Facebook.

Your post actually says unfriended So just blocking their feed isnt mean

My DH and I wonder if we will have an 'ugly' baby. It seems that parents of ugly babies never seem to notice (note Seinfeld episode featuring friends with ugly baby)! I pray that I will love my baby no matter what - but it's hard not to think/compare babies. I also have an ugly baby friend...she has 3 (lives off the state because husband doesn't "like" working and that is another topic in its self) and the kids got less and less attractive. She just posted another pic today and I wanna love on that baby but I feel bad. I hope they have the ugly duckling syndrome and turn out to be super cuties.

Blocking is the way to go. I do it to people that post every.single.thing.they.do - so annoying!

Well, if blocking someone is mean then I am a super b!tch. I actually just blocked my 14yr old niece because I can't stand that she posts 1200 times a day about how awesome her boyfriend is or that her BFF is the coolest person on the planet.

Unfriend= mean, blocking= not so much.

Ummmm.... yeah, I would say that makes you a little bit of a bad person. If you need to unfriend someone because you can't stand to look at the child they're proud of, methinks you have some overly hormonal issues. lol

I do agree that there are ugly babies though.

This topic reminded me of a blog that I'm OBSESSED with. It's called STFU, Parents, and is freaking hysterical. Basically, people turn in moms who continually post annoying statuses and pictures and the blogger rips them apart. It's totally mean but so funny. And reading it will make sure I never turn into to one of those moms

Well, it looks like it's a pretty hot topic - figured it would be. I know it's mean - which is what I said in the beginning. I just think that when it comes to Facebook - if I don't want to see it - I don't have to. Unfriending is mean and I def misspoke in my first post and I will continue to block her. It's just...regardless if it's a "cute baby" or a "non cute baby" I just think the issue really is that I'm sick of seeing documentation from every second of the babies life. period.

Considering that I live in Alaska and it takes 3 flights to get home I 100% agree that Facebook is good to keep in touch! However, because im in AK my family wants to know what's going on all the time, I set up a family blog so they can check up on personal posts. That way I can post a million pics of the baby and dogs, and husband none of my friends/family will ever have a reason to say "GOD I'm just getting so sick of seeing Julies STUPID dog pictures." because they choose to look at the blog. I just think FB is getting to personal and intense. I remember the good ol days when I could check if the guy who I liked had a gf or not. sigh.

That is my second biggest Facebook pet peeve!! It's like "I just had the WORST day" - all they want is for people to ask about it, and most of the time, they never answer! Ugh

At a minimum it makes you extremely immature and potentially stupid because you can't figure out how to just block them from your feed without defriending. But yeah I also think some great karma is coming your way.

ETA: I didn't read the follow up posts. Removing people from your feed is fine - plenty of people are annoying enough to warrant this, ugly baby or no. I do think you are sort of absurd if you wouldn't have blocked her if her baby was more attractive.
