Our pedi said that 5-7 months is the norm, so I've been really surprised by all these posts too! I'm hoping DS will be later on since I'm not ready to deal with it yet lol!
I thought mine was teething at 3 months and Pedi said it was possible but not common. DS had all the symptoms, drooling, madly chewing on our hands and some crankiness. This has continued still and no sign of teeth. I think he feels the teeth moving through the gums and I think they move off and on. Some days the drooling is worse than ever. But the crankiness has generally subsided. I think his teeth won't break through 5 months or so.
I was totally freaked out at first that it was goign to be terrible, but it has not been that bad.
I got my first tooth at 4 months. DD and I have freaky similarities regarding size and milestones so I'm wondering if that will happen around 4 months for her.
My mom said she thinks DD may be teething. I tried feeling around but she wouldn't let me get her head in her mouth so I don't know. She definitely drools and eats her hands like they're going out of style and she has had some inexplicable bouts of crankiness but I don't know for sure.

We're getting ready to hit the 4 month mark pretty quick and I think DD is teething. Same symptoms as PPs mentioned- excessive drooling, sucking on hands and anything else she can get her hands on and in her mouth, serious crankiness, flushed cheeks/slightly elevated temp.
It's been happening on and off for the past couple weeks. I read somewhere that they can begin signs of teething at least a month before the tooth actually breaks through the gums. I'm fairly certain we'll be seeing a little tooth popping up here in the next few weeks.
Addy has been matching or exceeding me in all the baby milestones so far, and if that pattern holds true I'm in for a rough couple of months. My mom told me that my first tooth broke through just shy of 4 months old, and by six months old I had all 8 front teeth!
DH, on the other hand, only had 4 teeth by 8 months old, so maybe Addy will split the difference :-D
