It's illegal to sell recalled baby items, right?

DH and I have been checking out estate sales in our area for some unique/ antique pieces for our house. This one had a shi**y looking drop sided crib (listed for $65, I think we paid less for our graco Lauren). I pulled the guy in charge to the side and told him I wasn't sure, but he should be careful selling that crib because drop sides had been recalled. I also told him the crib manufacturers could have conversion kits.

    I remember reading about that a few months ago.  That it's illegal to sell drop side cribs b/c they are banned. 

    It was an article out of a newspaper.  I'm sure lots of people don't know that esp men.

    Huh, didn't know that. My cousin & aunt bought me a drop-side Pottery Bard Kids crib for $100 off craigslist, and we just had the company send us the retro-fit screws for free.

    That's what I thought. I felt kind of biitchy saying anything but it's better than something bad happening because I kept my mouth shut.

    It is and Craigslist has a notice about it when you post baby items. People don't pay attention though
    i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.

    Yes, though many people don't realize that something has been recalled or is considered unsafe now.

    Yeah, people are probably clueless more so than evil. I bet the guy had no idea.

    A friend of ours tried to sell theirs on CL and was emailed within the hour that if he didn't take the post down they would call athorities. Only, he knew about the recall and safety issues before doing that. I know for a fact bc I'm the one who told him :S

    I don't see an issue in selling it as long as it is clear in the post that they are not supposed to be used for infants anymore. There are plenty of other uses for a crib.

    Oh sure. He could have gotten the conversion kit and sold it "legally" but he didn't. So I suggested they trade it in at tru for $100 off a new crib! win/win
