Did I just have my first Braxton Hicks?

I can't believe I'm 35 weeks and just now asking about Braxton Hicks (lucky me I suppose). Tonight I felt a tightness in the upper-middle area of my stomach (more to the top of my bump). Both times it happened it was uncomfortable, but not painful. Plus it passed quickly, which makes me believe it wasn't just gas. Does this sound like BH to anyone else? The reason I asked is because on one of the websites a lot of ladies said it was lower.

Sounds like it to me. Mine always start at the top and go to the middle. My breathing gets weird too (hard to explain) but it all only lasts about 15-20 seconds. I am assuming those are BH.

Mine starts at the top too. Then sometimes on the right side and across to the left. Mine are uncomfortable but not quite enough to take my breath away. Close though.

Mine are wierd too. Sometimes I feel them starting low and moving upward and sometimes it just feels like the middle gets tight. I'm still never sure if it's really a BH or just baby pushing really hard, and I've been feeling them for several weeks. Embarrassed

That sounds like BH to me. BH can be different for everyone - mine start out really low and work up to about where my belly button is. I don't get very hard near the top, but I think they can be variable.

And congratulations on hitting 35/35! We are getting so close!

I did notice a tightening in the area when it happened, so I'm pretty sure it's not the baby. I'm guessing (based off of what you all have said) this was a BH. I was wondering if I'd ever feel one. Though I'm puzzled how much stronger they could get if some confuse them with actual contractions?!?!

That's how mine felt. I didn't realize what they were for a few days after I started noticing them, but they were just tightening, mostly up top, although if I was sitting, I could also feel it lower. I couldn't always tell when they ended, they were so faint most of the time, but I could tell when a new one was starting.

Sounds like BH to me. I've been having them for the last 3 months... mine are hard to distinguish where they actually start but the whole ute tightens up and it lasts sometimes up to a few minutes. Uncomfortable, but not "take my breath away" pain. I hear they are sometimes brought on my dehydration, overactivity and a full bladder...

I am no help, just wanted to say I too have had ZERO BH's!!! I keep waiting for something although I don't know what to expect!

I've been having these this past week myself and I can't believe I'm feeling it this early. I think I've been too active though...I got this tightening feeling today after vacuuming and I finally had to lay on my side for a few minutes until it relaxed. For me it usually has been an all over tightening and sort of a pressure and it's just uncomfortable. It's definitely a distinct feeling from cramping or anything else I've felt so I think it must be BH...although again for me I feel like it's so early. It's kind of worrisome, but hopefully OK! From what everyone else said, it sounds like the tightening can be in stages or more at the top or bottom and that sounds similar to what I've felt as well. It's so hard to know for sure when there is so many weird things going on in there!

Sounds like it. I can't believe you are just now feeling them! Good for you! You must be staying rested and hydrated. I need to do more of both of them.
