High-Risk Pregnancy

I'm so confused!(? from a lurker)

I am so confused. We went to see the MFM for our schedualed NT scan yesturday. I had started spotting that morning but since we were going in anyways they didn't up our time. I have a partial placental previa. He said if the bleeding gets worse to call the ob. at 1am it did so I called and he put me on strict bed rest until the bleeding stops. The ob called me back this afternoon and said he was reviewing my scan and i had a subchorionic bleed with clot formation in the cervix. I of course made the mistake of googling it and read about threatened miscarriage and placenta abruption. Needless to say I'm fareaking out!!!! I of course called right away and talked to the nurse. She can't find anything in the MFM report stating anything about a subchorionic bleed so she is having the OB call me back. Any insight? Anyone go through this? Am i freaking out over something not that bad?

I guess i should introduce myself.... I am originally from the IF board but now i post regularly on PAIF and Multiples. We did 3 rounds of IVF to get pg with di/di twins. I'm high risk because of the multiples thing. And now bc of the placenta previa. I have been lurking here a while and made a few comments on other peoples posts. THanks so much for any insight you have!

  • I had a SCH and it did bleed for a while.  However, I have gone 2 months without any bleeding and it hasn't caused me any other problems.  I know it is really scary, but it can turn out ok.

  • I agree with the above poster. As long as you are not bleeding now, don't worry about what could be. I am a L+D nurse and I have had plenty of patients that have healthy full term babies that had a sub-chorionic bleed documented. Usually as the uterus grows larger the placenta will move up and away from your cervix.  Hope that helps.
