Question: how many of your dh's sleep on the couch?

I'm talking about falling asleep on the couch, like you were watching a movie at night and he just passed out... Do you leave him there? Or do you have him wake up and come to bed? This stupid issue has actually caused fights between us - for some reason it drives me crazy when dh falls asleep on the couch like this! And though I should know better from past incidents and I should just take myself to bed and not disturb him, I can't help myself. So a 2 part question:

1. Does your dh fall asleep on the couch? How often?

2. If so, do you just leave him be?

July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

Re: Question: how many of your dh's sleep on the couch?

  • He usually falls asleep only for an afternoon nap or when he gets home from a super late hockey game. Right now he is sick and I wish he would sleep on the couch because he is loud and congested in his sleep and it drives me crazy. So in conclusion, I'm no helpmalthough I feel like what you are describing would irritate me as well.

  • He falls asleep on the couch most nights. It only bothers me when he is snoring so loud that I can't hear the tv. I wake him up when I'm ready to go to bed.
  • He falls asleep on the couch and I usually wake him up to go to bed.  If he doesn't want to go to bed then I leave him there and he eventually makes it to bed by early morning.  I will only insist for him to come to bed if it's a work night.
  • He works until 11 pm, so he's usually up until 2ish, and often falls asleep in front of the TV.  We have a crib sidecar now, but H was only sleeping on the couch when we were bedsharing, since we only have a queen.  I did the sidecar mostly to get him back in bed, but he falls asleep on the couch maybe 3 nights a week anyway.  Before the baby, either one of us would often fall asleep on the couch.  It's never been much of an issue.  We're just not formal "bedtime" people (the baby does have bedtime, however).
  • Mine does it all the time. It irritates me because I will want him in bed with me for cuddles and whatnot and he will insist that he isn't ready for bed. Drives me nuts. So now I just swat him as I walk by and inform him that I am going to bed. He can do whatever.

However, falling asleep on the couch during the day makes me go all exorcist wife. You think I don't want to just fall asleep whenever and wherever the mood strikes? Well I can't, because I'm responsible for our children. So no spontaneous napping, motherfrucker.

  • I'm usually the one that falls asleep on the couch since I've always had a hard time staying awake during movies at night.  I usually fall asleep on him though, so he wakes me when the movie is over to go to bed.

He's fallen asleep maybe once or twice on the couch.  I think only one time I've left him there because he refused to wake up.

Actually, he may have fallen asleep more than that, I tend to go to bed earlier than he does, but I wake up beside him, so I'm assuming if he does fall asleep he eventually makes it back to bed.

  • A couple times a month. I leave him alone. Most of the time he wakes up not long after and comes to bed.
  • He falls alseep all the time on the couch . I would say 5-7 nights a week but in his case it's not that he's watching the tv it's that he gets tired and decides to lay on the couch beside me for a "moment"!

What makes me mad is that he chooses to do it before he walks the dogs so in the end I walk to dogs every time.

He is like a bear once he's out and I will try to wake him up but It usually takes an hour or so. I've learned to start before I actually wAnt to go to bed. There has only been one time where I left him on the couch and that's because he told me he was up and to stop fing bugging him. he can be grumpy

He's also the guy that makes you laugh even in his sleep. He told me last week "if you walk long the path.... You shall not get bitten" he woke up to me laughing at him

    What?? Lol

  • DH falls asleep on the couch from time to time.  If I head up to bed I will wake him up and tell him I'm going upstairs.  Sometimes he wakes up and comes with me, sometimes he comes up later.  I'm fine with whatever as long as he's comfortable.

  • All the time.  Even before the birth of LO he would fall asleep watching TV.  I used to come wake him up, but never do anymore.  I figure I've got one kid to take care of!
