TMI Re: Shaving downstairs

So, um, it's getting really hard to shave down below. I just like to clean up the edges and... I can't see it all! I think in a month or two I won't be able to see anything below the belt.

What does one do in this situation?! Shave blindly? Shave with a mirror? Pay for a wax (not willing to have my first wax while pregnant - ouch)?

  • I was wondering this too. Im thinking lots of mirrors and yoga poses will be involved.

  • it's getting hard for me too! i saw on the veet website that their hair removal lotion stuff is safe to use while pregnant, but i'm going to ask my midwife at our next appointment what she thinks too. a mirror seems too hard to use, and no way am i waxing!
  • I always shave blindly anyways, because of a neck injury. But, I am basically letting it go while pregnant. I haven't done a full monte in like 2 years anyways. I might go back to clean up the edges when we get closer to summer.

  • I'm laughing so hard because this dawned on me this morning in the shower. Im not sure how much work Im willing to put in to this but not ready to put the razor away yet
  • I'm planning to ask DH to help!
  • I'm starting to look like a 70's porn star - so yeah, I need to start thinking about this too. Ugh...maybe a wax on the sides and on top before my c-section might be good.  ??  I mean like a week before...I don't want to be itchy or get a rash...eek.

  • My H has offered to help the few times I've complained about this. Such a sweetheart. I just don't know that he'd do a good job, but it may come to that. I bet I could do it blindly too...

Also, I just trimmed my toenails and it's getting sooo hard to reach them too! At least I'm comfortable getting a pedi ;)

  • i was thinking of waxing-  maybe at one of those Destination Maternity spas (Edamame).  They are used to seeing pregnant ladies va-jay-jays.

  • I plan to use round-tipped scissors and a mirror that can prop up on its own to get a bit of a trim in. It won't be as clean as anything with a razor but it'll be better than nothing at all.

  • I shave blindly due to horrible vision. Relying on touch alone works for me.

  • When I was pregnant with DD I had to ask this same question. The method that worked best for me and is starting to work again? The feel and shave. It takes a little longer but it gets the clean I want without the pain of waxing. Good Luck

  • I shave it all, and yes with DS1 I was doing it blind. You get good at it! It might be hard to get nice lines if you just trim the edges..but you can do it! Or, you could always ask your H to help you..my H loves that lol
  • I veet. With my last pregnancy inwas told it was okay. It's so much easier for me than trying to shave!

  • I have always shaved it all, and done it by feeling because I'm blind without my contacts/glasses. You'll get used to it! I did tell DH he might have to help me when I get bigger, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind :P
  • I havent used veet before, but i think it will be worth picking up today!
  • I am no help to you - I've waxed for years including through my first pregnancy and now this one too.

  • My usual routine it to trim with an electric trimmer and this continues to be my routine. I just use a stand-up mirror to help me too everything. I'm pretty surprised to see that so many ladies shave all the business actually.

This (except I'm a FTM). I'm amazed at how many people on here don't wax. It's so easy!

  • honestly i say waxing is the way to go if you just want a bikini wax.  i would not recommend going brazillian for the first time while prego. then an electric shaver for the rest i would think. i usually wax my bk line myself but once i couldnt see it and my ability to reverse my actions from looking in the mirror (trust me huge mess on floor, counter, everywhere but me) to clean up lol.  so my estetician does it.  we do bikini wax first followed by pedi. kind of like a reward thing.  and also, if you go for a bikini and halfway through you dont like it (pain or discomfort) they can stop lol.  mine is usually done in 3-6 strips pendong how long between appointmnets and if we are doing modified brazilian.

also. if you are shaving or taking care of business down there for the h then he can help lol.

  • I am so glad to see this post! I have really been wondering what I was going to do!! The few times I have shaved it has been very difficult since I couldnt' see what I was doing! My husband has used his trimmers to trim me up before on my "landing patch" as we refer to it but never the rest but he has offered to help and I will probably take him up on it!
