What time is LO's bedtime?

DS always wants to take a nap at 6 pm, he only sleeps for about 30 mins and is up until 9 or 10.. not happening anymore. He still wakes multiple times per night so tonight I put him to BED at 6:15. His normal bedtime is 7:30 but I'm wondering if maybe that was too late for him but I feel like 6ish might be too early? We'll see if he sleeps any better tonight! Here's hoping!

Re: What time is LO's bedtime?

  • Anywhere between 7:30 and 8:30. She doesn't take an evening nap anymore. Her bedtime used to be between 9:30 and 10:30 with a nap around 6-7pm.

  • His bedtime is 7pm. I don't let him sleep later than 4:30.  The way it's been working out, he's been waking up from his last nap around 3:30ish.

  • I read that between 6-8 pm is a normal bedtime for LO's our age. DD is in bed by 7 or 7:30 pm at the latest. It depends on how well she's napped. If her naps were too short, she usually won't make it past 7 pm.

She only takes 2 naps a day now. One between 9-9:30 am and the other around 2 pm.

  • Usually between 7:00-7:30, but could be 6:30 if naps at daycare were bad. Her last nap of the day usually ends between 4:30-5:00.

  • Typically it's 8PM but a few nights this week, he didn't get a good enough afternoon nap at daycare, so it was around 6:30-7PM. He'll generally sleep right through until we wake him at 6AM. We even wake him at 6AM on the weekends when we're home or if we have the day off during the week so that his schedule remains somewhat consistent.

  • 7:00pm bedtime here.  And he is still taking a couple naps during the day and then an hour long nap from about 5-6pm.  I think dc tires him out.  Many times I have to wake him up myself.  Then he's awake for about 45 minutes before I get him ready for bed and then put him back down for the night.  I always thought a late nap would mean that he would sleep like crap at night, but he's been STTN with no problems with this schedule.

  • Both boys are in bed right at 7:30.  I can't tell you how those last couple hrs without kids saves our marriage and my sanity on a daily basis.  I think that was the hardest single part abt going from 1-2 kids -- those first months where he wasn't asleep for the night before we were, so that there was no "kid-free" time.

  • We try to get him down around 7, but occasionally it ends up being earlier (like 6-6:30). If we can manage to get him to sleep, his last nap of the day is usually a 20-30 minute one around 5 and then he's up for about 1 1/2 hours before bed. Days when he doesn't take that last nap are when he ends up going to sleep earlier.

  • It was 8 but it's moved up a to 7:15 - 7:30.  And I should say that's when we start our bedtime routine.  It takes on average 20-30 minutes so he actually goes to sleep now between 7:45 and 8 as opposed to around 8:30 previously.

  • 630-645, regardless of nap times. Yesterday he napped from 430-600 at daycare; had to wake him up to bring him home and he still wanted to go straight to bed at 630. I wish he'd stay up a tad later but this works best for him right now.

  • Any time between 7-8pm, depending on what time his last nap ended.

  • On normal days, she likes to take a final short (30ish minute) nap around 4:30.  Bedtime (actually asleep in her crib) is sometime between 7:30 and 8:00.

I sometimes think she'd like an earlier bedtime, but it's just not possible.  I'd like her to go to bed even a little later...

  • His last nap at daycare is usually around 2 for an hour so when I pick him up at 4:45 I don't let him even catnap. At 7:30 we start "winding down" with a bath then a bottle and I try to lay him down at 8, 8:30 the latest.

  • 7 pm, give or take 15 minutes. We're in a weird place right now with his third nap. He's pretty close to consistently dropping it, but some days he still really needs it.

  • 7pm.  Liam gets cranky around 6:45 (unless it's a bath night).  We do jammies, a book and bottle at 7 and he's out by 7:15pm.  On bath nights (twice/week) we start with bath at 6:45 until 7ish and then do the normal routine.  He only wakes mayve once per night for his bink, he are working on that.

  • 10-10:30.

We are a sleeping in family. H does not get home from work until around 10:30pm-12am so that is our time to spend together since he leaves the house in the morning still. Him and I don't go to bed until around 2ish. DD's bed time works for us. If she went to bed any earlier I wouldn't get much sleep. Her and I wake up around 10:30 am or later...

  • By 8:00, rarely any earlier than 7:45.

  •  I try and get him to bed by 8:30. Sometimes its closer to 9. He's a very awake baby. He takes 2-3 30-45 min naps a day. Sometimes he falls asleep during his last bottle, and other times I have to put him down wide awake at 9. He STTN and wakes up around 6 for a bottle and then goes back down until 8:30-9.

  • 7:30 or 8 if he takes an evening nap, and 6:30-7 if he doesn't.  It really all depends on how his naps were at day care and what time he woke up from his last nap.  Sometimes he'll nap as soon as we get home.

  • between 6 and 7. Sometimes she melts down and I look up at the clock and yep! 6:01 on the dot!

She wakes up at 5 though, and hardly naps at school, so it makes sense she can't stay awake much later!

phew. Here I was thinking we were the only ones with a later bed time with ours at 10-10:30..

  • D's bedtime is usually 9-9:30. We tried the whole "in bed earlier makes them sleep longer" and it just made him wake up at 7:30 instead of 9:30am. We've pushed his bedtime back to 9, and we're STILL fighting the 7:30 wakeups.

We are night owls as well. DD is usually asleep by 10, but sometimes earlier, sometimes later. She sleeps in until 9 usually. It's not my preference, but she fights sleep, so if I tried an early bedtime, I'd just spend the whole evening battling with her.

Nope.  Our husbands have similar schedules (though not the same profession).  If she went to bed earlier she'd never see him.  We are a night owl household so it's more natural for us to stay up late then wake up early in the mornings, we plan on keeping a similar schedule for her until she starts school and we have to transition (as long as it keeps working for her, if she starts melting down every evening then obviously we'll change it up).

yep. Us too...like you said, until school. My H has been home for about 30 minutes now. I just got done washing the dishes after our "dinner".

  • 7:00-8:00, does not matter nap times.  He takes about 2, 2-3 hour naps.  One at 9-10 then at 2-3, and then about 5-6 he sleeps for about 30 minutes.  He sleeps for that short because I wake him up otherwise he would sleep through the night!

This is us too. It doesn't matter what time she goes down though, she always wakes up around 6. I bring her into bed then and she'll sleep until I get up.
