I'm growing a penis!

We found out on Wednesday.  For some reason, maybe because everyone we know has girls, I think we really thought we were having a girl.  I didn't even realize I wanted a girl until I found out I was having a boy.  Don't get me wrong, I'm getting really excited about having a baby boy, and I wasn't lying when I said over and over again, "I don't care what it is; I just want the baby to be healthy."  But now that we know, I realize that despite all my insisting to my mom about no pink frilly princess things, I think I might have wanted a tutu or two in my life.  

 I wonder if I'd feel the exact opposite if I'd found out it was a girl?  Either way, I'm growing a penis and I'm starting to get really excited about it.  I just wanted to be honest with myself for a moment.  I feel a little selfish about it, but for a few moments, I was in shock that I am having a boy.  

 Maybe because we've been trying for so long (IVF) the reality of knowing it's a boy just made all of this really real.

    Congrats on your little boy! I too am growing a penis  haha  I had a lot of the same feelings about finding out he was a boy and not a girl.  I have always said I wanted one of each but I have a stepson so I feel like I have my boy already kinda.  From the moment I got pregnant I thought, oh a girl would be nice and a change.  The more I look at baby boy things and think about names, the more excited I get.  We're just gonna have at least 1 more baby!  lol

    Congrats on your little guy! I think it's very natural to feel happy about what you have, but disappointed about what you don't - beforehand, you had two possibilities, and now you have one. Once you see some of the cute boy things, you'll forget all about those tutus...

    I was saying the same thing and felt the same way cause everyone we know has girls too! Part of the reason I was  kinda wanting a boy was just to break the cycle.  My SIL and I went shopping for clothes right after we found out and as excited as I am it's a boy I just kept going back to the girl clothes, so I'm totally with you on this one! I'm happy with my little man on the way though!  My husband keeps laughing cause tell everyone "I have a strange penis inside me"

    I had the opposite experience yesterday. I didn't realize how much I wanted a boy (and was convinced I was having a boy) until I found out my baby is a girl. I love little boys! It took a couple hours for the reality of a girl to sink in, but by this morning I woke up extremely excited to have a daughter.
    Mommy to N (3), J (2), and C (10 months). LO4 is due in mid-September.

    This reminds me of the Sex and the City episode when Carrie says to Miranda that it is so "sci-fi" that she is growing a little penis inside of her, LOL. I thought about that when I found out Wednesday we are having a boy too.

    I totally relate to how you feel as I felt that exact same way. But there are so many great things about having a boy too. So now I am getting excited about it. And I know once I meet him and look into those little eyes, I will be in total love.

    LOL  & congrats.  Two people have said that to me too - so funny.   I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed for next time that its a girl and I get to shop for those adorable girl clothes.

    Congrats on being Team blue! Boys are SO fun!

    I know how you feel, when I was expecting DS1 it took me a good1-2wks to be happy/excited that we were having a boy.You will get over it just give yourself time

    I just want to thank everyone who responded.  Nice to know I'm not the only one and I'm excited to grow this penis up nice and strong!  LOL
