My NT scan & Let me introduce myself!

Hi all,

 I have been reading for a while but first post.  My husband and I are so excited to welcome our first baby (a boy!) this August. 

It was helpful for me to read other NT scan experiences to prepare for mine so I thought I would post my experience.  Right after the u/s began, the tech exclaimed that there was no way I was only 13 weeks along- the baby was too big!    I was given that due date based only on my LMP.  At my first (and only) u/s at my doctor's office the doctor commented that he seemed big (they were able to tell us the sex then!) but she didn't bother adjusting my due date.

 Well unfortunately I could not complete the integrated test- they did not even bother taking my blood.  They did say for what it's worth the NT measurement was normal (under 2.5 mm) but now I will do a different 2nd trimester blood test.  The funny thing is that I had a feeling my due date was wrong: I got a very early HPT result, my morning sickness started early, my doctor casually mentioned he seemed big, etc.  So when my NT scan was scheduled on the LAST day possible for that screening, I was a little nervous that it would be too late but I didn't speak up.  Anyway, I encourage other ladies to make sure the scan isn't scheduled at the latest possible date so if you are ahead of schedule you can still do the test.

 It was great to see him though!  He was very active, moving his arms, etc.  :)  So at least we got that!

     She wouldn't give me a new due date- said that my midwife/dr would do that.  But she estimated the baby as 14.5 weeks instead of 13 weeks so my guess is around August 10 or so.

     Hopefully will get a new due date at my next appointment in 2 weeks.  But I did jump from a lemon to an orange in 1 day!  :)

    Welcome and congrats on a great scan. Exciting that you already know its a boy! We have to wait over a month still.
