BLW Highchair

We plan to do BLW with LO. In the book they mention that some parents find it easier to just hold their babies and let them eat from their plate. Do you find this to be true?  We haven't bought a highchair yet and before we do, I want to make sure it won't have the same fate as the cradle he's never slept in!

    I used a high chair whenever possible. I find that there are some times I just want to have both hands to myself, and mealtime is definitely one of them. He would be happy as a clam in his own space, playing with his own food (even if it was exactly he same as mine). I'd give him a selection of the offerings and if he finished any part I'd give him more of that, so he could still eat his fill and waste as little as possible.

    We didn't do 100% BLW, but I can't imagine what a disaster dinner would have been if we didn't have a high chair! DD is such a wiggle worm...and such a messy eater...that it would have been a nightmare. Also, what would you do when you need to get up to get another drink/more food/etc? We have a Keekaroo high chair, and I love that she sits right at the table with us (i.e., no tray attached to the chair, she eats right at the table). I also use the chair occasionally while I'm cooking--strap her in and give her some snacks so that I can get things done.

    We love putting her in her high chair.  Also some things we eat aren't safe for baby so it's nice not to have to worry about her grabbing those things.  I was also worried about allergies since she had some indicators while nursing so I took things slower than some I'm sure.

    We have a space saver highchair that we love. DD had been eatting in it fine, but last week she was really want to get out so I sat her on my lap and she loved it! She just ate off my plate. It made way more mess but kept her happy. I think it probably depends on the baby, she still usually sits in the highchair to eat. I'd get one, it's also great when cooking so she can hang out and watch :)

    This is us as well. I'm a bit of a disorganized cook so I'm often having to get up from the table to finish or get something. We also love the Keekaroo high chair, same concept as the Stokke tripp trapp but much cheaper.

    We use the high chair every meal. I can not eat while he's trying to throw my plate on the floor.

    Get one you can hose down. I ended up with this and it's been a great high chair (even though somehow we never used it as anything else). We don't use the cover part. If I was doing it over again, I'd get the cheap IKEA one.

    We're still in the very early stages of BLWing, but he's always in a high chair.  Yesterday, we went out to lunch and he sat in a restaurant high chair scooted up to the table with some food right on the table and he LOVED that.  It felt more like a meal together too.  So, I'm thinking I want to try to do that more for our home meals now (but ugh...can't imagine the price tag of the one PP mentioned...I wish...).  We have a Spacesaver seat which I hope will work that way.  We'll see :)

    ETA: duh, just saw the other rec, will have to check that out! :)
