I want my mom to come in after the birth & watch them stitch me if that's needed. She's an RN & I've had way too many friends have stitching horror stories, so it will just make me feel better.
I will be a scheduled c-sec and they only allow 1 person, so DH. I think if I were doing vaginal delivery it would be DH and my sister (who is my BFF). I was in with her and her DH when my neice was born (at her head of course!!!).
I saw a great quote in someone's siggy the other day that states just how I feel about this topic: "If you weren't in the room for conception, you won't be in the room for delivery." My mom's cool with it, she agrees it's a special/private time for me and DH, MIL on the other hand...not so much.
Haha! I had a funny discussion about this on the MM boards a couple weeks ago. Although I thought I'd only want DH, my mom, and bff in the room, when it came time, there was like 35 people in the room. I was given Demerol to sleep (part of the problem), plus progressed WAY quicker than they thought (another part of the problem), and my son was a premie (another part of the problem). So in the end, I was told to wake up and push, pushed for 15 minutes, went back to bed. Didn't realize till after I was out of the hospital that DH was there, bff and her hubby(who was bringing her lunch and couldn't get out), FIL, MIL, both BIL, DH, my mom, and like 15 ICU nurses. They said it all happened so fast that they all just huddled in the corner and couldn't get out! Haha!
And yes, I found this out through pictures! My MIL took a whole roll of my son coming out!!!!!!!!
Just DH. Our families are out of state, we're going to call them when we go to the hospital so they can start the 9hr drive but we want that 'special' time with just the 3 of us.

MARY REYNA BORN AND PASSED AWAY JULY 31ST, 2009 AT 23 WEEKS.
GOODBYE SWEET BABY...I WILL MISS YOU FOREVER.
***AFTER 17 WEEKS ON BEDREST***
My mother is hell bent on being there though. She's never seen a baby born. I told her I'd find her a video online.
I don't know why she's saying this stuff. With my 1st, she had to be escorted out of my room by the nurse because she was so traumatized seeing me in all that pain. She was crying and yelling at the nurse to help me. Now, all I hear is how she wants to see it happen. Not gonna happen.
DH and I subscribe to the idea that if you weren't in the room for the conception, you won't be there for the delivery.
We've begun to kick around the idea of having my sis in there doing some birthing photography, with the stipulation that there will be no vag shots, clearly, and nothing that's blackmail-worthy. She works with some awesome photographers who specialize in birth photography, and their work is amazing -- I know she could do just as well. Yet we're still undecided.
I only wanted DH there, but he told me last night that he wants my mom and my nana in the room for support because he'll be nervous, lol. Talk about a reversal of the usual.
I have always said only DH (and for sure not my mom). But now as I get closer and especially after my childbirth class, I think it will be helpful to have my mom in there.
Depending on how quickly or slowly labor progresses, DH may need a break to get food or bathroom, he may get tired of massaging my back well (and mom can step in!), my mom can focus on picture taking while DH is my primary coach, etc etc.
So believe it or not I am now willing to have my mom in there --- IF she behaves, lol. She's only ever had c-sections, so I don't want her giving her opinion on things she really has no knowledge of.
I asked my mom and sister about being in there before we got pregnant and they were both like eeew no!! ahahhah Maybe they will change their minds when they find out I really am.
DH and mom for sure. My sister is optional. There is no way DH can handle it by himself (we're talking about the man who can't get a vial of blood drawn in a sitting position).

Just DH.

Right now, DH and me.
But, I can see myself crying for my mommy at some point. LOL.

I like this quote. I agree. My mom thinks it's normal to have your mother in there. I hope she understands when I tell her no.
My DH and my doula.

DH and all the doctors/nurses.
This is my new favorite quote!
DH only.
All other family and friends will be in the waiting room.
My mom said this same thing. I was like "So? Neither have I! And I don't even want to see my own being born."
