Husband's coworker put alcohol on their baby registry- ha

My husband has a male coworker who's expecting his first baby and they're having a shower at work for him. Since I'm sure I'll be the one running out to buy the gift, I looked up their Target registry, and they registered for four bottles of cheap wine. Hah!

I'd actually consider buying them wine because I think it's pretty funny, but since this guy has been candid with my husband about how completely strapped for cash they are, I think I'll go with something more practical.

So now my husband wants to put a bottle of Jack Daniels on our Target registry (all the Targets around here sell alcohol, not sure if that's the case everywhere) and I could almost agree to that because my family would think it was hysterical. But his family is pretty conservative and I don't think they'd get it, so I think we'll skip it.

I just thought that was pretty funny and had to share. Anyone else put something unexpected on their registry?

  • I personally didn't put it on my registry, but when we went to Target to do our registry, I let DH work the "gun". I looked up and he was over in the electronics dept with the XBox games. Needless to say, I had to delete some random "accessories" that weren't baby related. He also had like 5 of the same toy giraffe on there because he kept pushing random buttons, and it would add multiples.

  • hahaha thats funny..sounds like something my husband would do! I wouldn't mind registering for a couple bottles of wine, most of my family would find it comical but then there are some that would probably find it distrubing ha so think I'll leave that one out

  • I like it. :) My mother-in-law half-seriously told me she'd start my "wine cellar" by buying me a nice bottle of wine for every month of pregnancy, and further mandating that my husband not be allowed to touch the stuff without permission. Kinda wish I'd taken her up on the idea... (Of course, she's provided us with a crib and is now getting an antique family rocker repaired and refinished, so she's been more than generous already.) Have you heard of Mother's Milk Stout? If you're into dark beers I think that might almost be an appropriate brand of alcohol to put on one's registry...
  • LOL. That's pretty funny actually. I'd buy them 1 bottle of wine with a practical gift too. That's pretty funny. Our walmarts and targets only sell 6 pack bottled beer and wine coolers. I'd laugh a lot to see jack daniels on the list.

I thought you were going to say rubbing alcohol.... since you put that on their ambilical cord.

  • haha So funny. I never did anything like that but one of my friends' registry I found some lingerie. lol Her hubby was all over Target putting random things on their registry, there was lingerie, some dvds, and a tv. I like seeing registries with comedy. :)
  • With ds dh did register for red bull and got it from a friend it was one very useful gift for him since ds didn't sleep for more than two hours at a time for a long time and dh still had to work 13 hour days.

  • Went to a wedding shower once and the bride and groom had put golf balls on the registry.  The husband was a big golfer and they actually turned it into a game.  They registrered for something kinda random but still appropriate on purpose.  If someone had purchased the golf balls they would have received a gift at the shower.  Possibly something to think of for the baby shower.
