Pre-pregnancy Clothing

Anyone else not able to get back into their pre-pregnancy jeans/pants yet? I keep reading these posts about women who are back into their regular clothing 2-3 weeks PP. I have a neighbor who was back in her pre-pregnancy clothing 1 week PP and all she did was eat junk throughout her entire pregnancy!

As of right now I am only able to wear my pre-pregnancy yoga/jogging pants, leggings and more stretchy/longer tops. The weight is just coming off so slowly!

I gained approx. 40 lbs and started at a normal weight range for my height. I probably have about 15 lbs to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I guess I just assumed that by almost 3 months PP and EBF I would have bounced back by now. I am eating healthy and get out for walks with DD when the weather allows. I am hard pressed to find the time to devote to "working out" yet.

Anyone else in the same boat? I feel so frustrated!

Re: Pre-pregnancy Clothing

  • I'm almost exactly in your situation, other than weeks pp.  Same weight gain and pre-preg weight.  I have my OB appt Friday and am praying I can exercise some.  I had a c-section and haven't been cleared to take walks yet.  I even tried my "fat" pants and they don't fit.  I've accepted I have to work a harder than some people on this already (I'm also 5"1').  I think most don't lose it all for 9-12 months.  Hang in there.

  • I'm 2 weeks PP and I tried to get into my jeans yesterday and was very sad to see I was nowhere close! I also had a C section, so I'm not sure my jeans would be very comfy...but I wanted to get into them! I gained 30 pounds and I've lost 22 so far but still nowhere near my pre-pregnancy clothes...even my jackets are nowhere near zipping!

  • I'm with you.  I have 20 lbs to go before I get back to my PP weight, but even then, I dont think any of my PP pants will ever fit me again.  My hips are so much wider now.

  • yep..almost 6 weeks PP and still about 12 pounds to go - probably actually more since I have no muscle tone now.  My stomach really pooches out still.  I tried on my pre-pregnancy jeans and I could get into them but couldn't button them up.  I think the belly fat will be the hardest to get rid of.  I also had a c-section so I want my clothes to be comfortable - still wearing my yoga pants and my pregnancy jeans (which are fortunately fairly cute as long as I hide the elastic waist band.)  I'll have to start some serious ab workout once I'm cleared by the OB.

I think patience and getting into a good routine with LO will be key.

  • The only reason I'm back in prepregnancy clothes already was my last month was hell.  I was losing weight and throwing up every night.  I would gladly trade my 9th month of misery for having some extra weight to work off later.  Also, I was overweight before, so it's not saying much to say I'm in my old jeans again.  I still have some work to do after my body is done healing.

  • I'm a month out and can just now SQUEEZE into my pre-pregnancy jeans ....with a Bella Band!  Lol.  Are you small?  My theory is that when you start off small, it's harder to get into your jeans postpartum.  I wear (ok, wore) size 0 jeans, so at this point I'm just happy I can get them over my hips now.  Hell, I didn't ven know I gained in my hips but a wk postpartum I tried a pr of jeans on just to see where I was at and was surprised that I couldn't inch them up any higher than my mid thighs :-(. Time!!!  With my first I was back in my jeans at 10 wks out.  I have read that the norm is " nine months up, nine months down!"

  • I gained 45 lbs during my pregnancy, my baby is 9 weeks old and I have lost 28lbs so far, but the first 18 I lost within the first couple weeks (probably mostly fluid).  I cannot get my prepregnancy jeans on and the one that do pull up are nowhere near buttoning.  I have a couple pair of sweat pants that I can't even wear yet.  Most of my shirts don't fit right b/c I went from a B to D cup size. I am breastfeeding so I thought the weight would come off easier but now realize I have to work a lot harder.  My rings don't even fit yet!  Just 3 weeks ago my husband and I started counting calories and I have lost an additional 5 lbs.  I try to exercise when I can-I can't wait until it gets warm here so I can get the jogging stroller out!  It is very frustrating when I am hearing about these women who are already into their pre-baby clothes and very depressing to look at my closet full of clothes and not be able to wear them, but then I look at my son and I'd do it all over again!
  • Oh boy- no way. I gained 60 lbs like with my first (and had lost 15 right before I got pregnant so was at my lowest). I have lost 35 and have 25 to go. So depressing. I was looking for my clothes from my first maternity leave today. The shirts are so ugly and outdated- its been 3 years. I go back to work in 3 weeks so will buy some new tops. I have lots of pants from a few years ago that will fit.

My goal is to lose 6 more before I go back. I just started working out today and cutting calories last week and have seen a difference.

  • This was one of the hardest parts of being pregnant for me. Just before I got pregnant, about a year ago, I lost about 30 pounds, so gaining that back was hard to accept.

I just tried my old jeans on from before I lost the weight last year, and they fit in the legs but not even close in the waist... Looks like I'll still be rocking my maternity jeans that fit decently for a little while. My shirts seem to fit fine though, thankfully!

  • I gained about 20 lbs my entire pregnancy, so I was back in pre-pregnancy clothes at about 2 weeks PP. I think everyone's different.

  • I gained nearly 70 pounds, my baby is 15 weeks and I now weigh less that what I did before I got pregnant.  But...I only have one pre-preggo pair of jeans that fit.  My tummy has been altered apparently.
