supply decrease due to cold?

I noticed DS didn't want to nurse yesterday so I pumped to see if I had a clog or something.  I got about two ounces.  He is still refusing to nurse so I pumped again a little while ago and I got an ounce.  I've tried everything I can think of including a nipple shield.

Could my supply be tanking because I have a cold?  Does it usually come back when I get rid of the cold?

Re: supply decrease due to cold?

  • it could. I would avoid all cold meds. Just do natural stuff and lozenges, teas etc. Drink LOTS of water and be sure to eat still. Possibly look in to some Fenugreek pills maybe or some mothers milk tea to maintain it seeing as you think your cold could be decreasing your supply. That is actually when I started the pills and the tea. I had been sick and DD had an ear infection causing her to eat less. I needed to maintain. Oatmeal works sometimes too. I eat it daily.
