Baby Names

All names with same number of letters?

I have always said if I have a baby girl her name will be Elsa...well not always. When I was three I wanted my baby to be Ashley...but we all grow up. I love how Elsa Jane sounds but the last name will also be four letters. Is that too weird? Or am I over thinking it?  I don't think I could change my mind at this point anyway but thoughts?

Re: All names with same number of letters?

  • I think you're really overthinking this. Who do you think is going to be sitting and counting the letters in your daughter's name?

Elsa Jane is lovely. I think you should use it.

  • I think you are over-thinking it. By accident, my last two both have first and middle names with 5 letters. I don't see the big deal.

BTW, I love Elsa Jane. Gorgeous!

  • You know what they say about people whose names all have the same amount of letters?

"Hey, all your names have the same amount of letters. Huh."

You're over thinking it! Elsa Jane is fine.

  • Definitely overthinking it...Elsa Jane is gorgeous!

  • I wouldn't worry about it. It's a nice name.

  • MH said so too. It's a difficult last name to pair ...I think it sounds good but I couldn't decide how it looked on paper.

  • I think Elsa Jane is beautiful! I would use it regardless.
  • All of LO's names have 6 letters just by coincidence. I can't even remember what made me realize that. He also has every vowel in his whole name. We were talking about how his name has a lot of vowels....Elliot and then our last name starts with two vowels. Anyway, I am the only crazy person that would ever notice anything like that. I don't think it is a big deal. If you like the names and it sounds good- go for it!

  • I agree with pps - you're overthinking it.

I think Elsa Jane is just fine, even with a 4 letter LN :)

    Congrats on choosing a name.

  • I think it depends on your last name. A few months ago, I would have said yes, that's too weird. Then I realized that DS's full name all have the same number of syllables, and I don't think it sounds strange. If you like it, go for it.

  • It would only be  weird if you decide that all your children had to have all three names be 4 letters.  I met a girl in college who was named Harriett( yes that's an extra "t") because she was one of 8 sisters who all had eight letters in their name. She was the youngest.  I think the first 3 or 4 the names were coincidence ( and the fact that they were all girls was, too).  Then her parents noticed the pattern and forced it by misspelling other classic names. I'm really bummed that I can't remember any of the others.

  • I think you're over thinking it. Before I got married my first, middle, and last name all had 4 letters each. It wasn't a big deal.
  • I just counted up the letters in my maiden name just now and realized they all have the same number of letters. I never even considered that. Albeit if you name your kid Jane June Lane, it might be a tad weird. Elsa Jane is lovely though.
