  My mil watches Sophee everyday and didn't want us to pay her anything. We didn't feel comfortable with not paying her anything. We asked her what she would accept if we did pay her and we went back and forth. We finally agreed on $200 a month. Also, I buy any food and milk needed as well as diapers and wipes. She was happy with what we give her and we feel like she deserves something. You should ask your mom what she would like or throw out a number you feel comfortable paying and see what she says. My sil mother is watching her son everyday and is paying her mom what she would pay for daycare, but her mom is retired and could use the money. So it all depends on what your situation is and what you and mom prefers.

  I don't have to supply things for DS, my mom buys them.  She charges $20 a day.  So on days I don't take DS to her, I don't pay.

  My SIL watches D' 3x a week & we pay her $30 a day (was gonna be $20 but DH blurted out $30 & she agreed).

  That's tight enough on our budget.  He also goes to my IL's 1x a week & they refused to let us pay them.  My parents just moved back to town & have said they'll watch both kids after #2 is born & I go back to work.  Dunno if they'll want to be paid or not but if so, I'm sure my mom would do it for $30/day total for both kids (I'm thinking SIL might want us to up the pay if she takes 2 kids but 1) she doesn't want both & 2) she's been complaining about having D' 3x/wk as is; think my parents will take over her days)
