  • 1.  Hemorrhoids.  (they suck bad....week 37 was the devil)

    2.  The wacky mood swings the 1st 2 weeks postpartum.

    3.  Another year of sleep deprivation.

Is it crazy that childbirth doesn't scare me anymore?  It's because my little friend the epidural is so brilliant.  :)

    1.  major bloating from all the fluids after surgery for like 2 weeks!

    2.  first poop.  Seriously, I was in tears last time and it didn't come til about a week after.DH almost considered taking me to the hospital.  I'll start taking a stool softener at least a week before this time and be drinking the Metamucil while in the hospital.

    3. Having a toddler want me to lift him when I won't be able to for a couple weeks.

  • 1) Being my biggest in June/July/August when it could be brutally hot and humid

    2) Maternity Leave when I am getting no sleep, hormonal and feeling like a society outcast

    3) Trying to make my body normal after having the baby

Ugh, I don't want to think about this now!

  • 1) Every appointment I am terrified they are going to tell me the baby is gone even though I have no signs indicating this

    2) Child birth.  I don't like hospitals/doctors/etc, so not looking forward to that in general......

That dawned on me after I answered, too!  I'm way less afraid of the c/s than I am the mouth-vomit heartburn.

Maybe I can put your mind at ease a bit?  For #2 (haha!) take milk of magnesia in the hospital.  Not too much, or you'll crap your brains out, but a few shots of it should get you moving.  They did for me after #2 and I avoided the hard poop horror I experienced after #1.   And for #3, I was able to lift DS (very gently) from the time I got home from the hospital.  My c/s really didn't affect my ability to care for him at all.  When I didn't want to lift him I'd just sit and he'd get in my lap, instead, so we got lots of snuggles in.

    Sorry for post-jacking!

  • 1. I will miscarry this baby before I get out of 1st tri

    2. I will die during delivery (came within 2 min of this happening with my daughter due to hemorrhaging. Blood pressure was 40/20... I was in ICU for 3 days/hospital for 10.... scariest shiit I have ever gone through)

    3. I will go crazy having 2 little ones at home.

  • 1. tearing/foreceps/recovery. It took months for me to recover from 3rd degree tears with DS.

    2. swelling/water retention. summer months are not kind to the pregnant. i looked like i was wearing the fat suit used in movies.

    3.  up all night nursing when I have a toddler to tend to during the day. With DS I could catch a break but with two I can't picture how that's going to work.

  • 1. Having another miscarriage

    2. Moving cross country (switching docs, summer in Texas, finding a new place to live, DH finding a new job, being settled and ready to go by September)

    3. I know I'll have a c/s and I can't take any pain meds. I have no idea how this is going to work.

    2. Gaining a ton of weight (I am already overweight, and I actually lost 10 lbs last pregnancy, but I feel like a cow right now).

    3. Something being wrong with the baby and not finding out until the 20 week anatomy scan (one of my closest friends just had her baby who died shortly after birth when they discovered the baby had polycystic kidneys at the 20 week scan).

Yeah... that was my worst fear when I went into labor with my daughter. And of course, I did. The best part was that I had a mirror to watch my daughter come out, and guess what else I got to see?! It was so embarrassing...

  • All of my fears are related to handling two children instead of the one I have now:

    1. How am I going to take DD to the bathroom in public places with an infant to haul around too? Sometimes the only stalls that are open are the non-handicapped ones and DD and I barely fit in there together.

    2. How am I going to keep up with DD all day while being awake half the night with the new baby? I won't be able to catch cat naps like I did when DD was a baby.

    3. How am I going to afford to send two kids to college?!

  • 1. Pooping during birth. (hahaha sorry, I just don't like thinking about that)

    2. Going back to work after the baby is born

    3. Going into labor during rush hour/having to do most of the labor in triage... basically anything that means I'm in labor where I don't want to be. I get so anxious and claustrophobic in situations like that. Either it is going to be worse if I'm in labor, or since I'm in labor, I won't care. We'll see. I'd rather just avoid the situation.

  • 1. Having Gestational Diabetes again (had it with DS- total suckfest and I blocked it from my memory!)

    2. Adjusting to having a 2.5 year old and newborn (sleepless nights... no naps during the day... pure chaos?!)

    3. Possibility of us having to move to an unknown city (DH may be up for promotion within the year, and that would mean leaving BOTH of our families/friends and starting somewhere completely new either me VERY pregnant, or with a newborn and toddler....)

  • 1.  My biggest fear is that I will develop pre-eclampsia again, but this time earlier than last.  DD was totally healthy at 35w4d, but I fear what would happen if I had to deliver significantly earlier.

    2.  Swelling.  My normally 8N feet would not fit into 10W shoes by the end (thanks to pre-eclampsia).

    3.  My feet growing. I know a lot of people whose feet were a size up after pregnancy.  I stayed the same with DD (my feet went back to normal, thankfully), but I am terrified my feet will grow and my shoes collection (I have a lot) will not fit. I would ugly cry.

  • OP, not to be a downer, but your rings not fitting and gas should be the least of your worries. Haha.

1 - The newborn-stage lack of sleep (especially paired with a crazy toddler). I am literally terrified.

2 - Tearing, stitches, and recovery. It was pretty miserable for me. I wince thinking about it.

3 - Not so much a fear, but dreading the painful first 2 weeks-ish of nursing. I know it will pass, but I tense up just thinking about it.

    Yes totally.

1, 2, and 3, are all "Sleep deprivation." I suck, suck, suck at not sleeping. And the first time I only had one so I could theoretically sleep when he napped. This time around I will have a newborn and a 3 year old. On my own. Holy crap. ::sticks fingers in ears and hums to self::

  • 1) c section recovery (I have no idea why anyone would elect to have a c section, 4 days of solid pain to where you just want to lay there and die was not fun)

    2) newborn hours (waking up every 90 minutes.....yay)

    3) GTT (that drink is nasty on an empty stomach)
