whats next for bath time??

Since she came home from the hospital, we have been using the whale baby bath tub. well now at 3 months, she gets so excitied in the tub and extends her legs and shakes her body to splash and just go crazy the whole time! My question is......whats next? she is moving off the little seat in the baby tub and sliding down into the water. Do i start laying her on the cold hard surface of the big bath tub or just continue this tub until she can sit up?

Re: whats next for bath time??

  • You know, for the tub I'm not really sure.  I take baths with our LO and just kinda snuggle with her or use the Leachco Hug Tub.  The hug tub might be something you like.  It hugs LO and it's almost like a boppy in the tub but still lets her have some fun in the water.

I've been eyeing this thing on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/Spa-Baby-Spababy-Upright-Bath/dp/B001AJ69CS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1328879939&sr=8-3

It's the tummy tub - can be used up to 35 lbs and I like that it actually lets LO sit up and play a bit even when they cant sit up on their own.

  • We have the whale tub too and just recently my little guy has also started getting so excited he slides over the bar and I have to save him from going under lol. I think soon I am going to take the bar out and keep him in the whale tub until he can sit on his own. We put the baby tub in the big one during bathtimes anyway, he makes such a mess now.

  • I am not sure what kind of tub I have, but it has a "reclining soft thingy" ( lack of other words) that I can take out of it and put her in our tub. Which I have been doing. She too likes sliding down the soft thingy and splash her legs in the water. It is super cute!

That's funny. It looks like a big bucket. It looks like it would be hard to wash LO in since the babies in the pictures are all smushed in there.

  • I have the whale tub too, and DD is doing the exact same thing. I'm glad she enjoys bath time by kicking her legs, but she's also sliding over the bar, it's too high for her now. I think I'll remove it next time and put something else under her butt to keep her from sliding. Maybe a rolled up towel in the bottom instead of the bar.

  • Once DS got to that point, we started using this.  We used it until he was about 8 or 9 months and wanted to start standing.  It's smaller than the big tub and has squishy sides.  Worked great.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one whose baby tries to drown himself because he loves bathtime so much.  We take him into the big tub occasionally and he loves kicking in there.

We used the ducky tub as well. I also have a seat for the tub that i plan on using around 4 months. I used it with the twins and LOVED it. ill try to find a link.

  • We have the inflatable ducky tub for when she can sit up. I'm having similar issues with the whale one. I like the looks of the little bucket one that people posted but seems expensive for a what looks like a plastic bucket.

  • We kept DD#1 in her baby bath for 6 months.  We probably could have stopped sooner.  She was too big for it and splashed the water everywhere.  We eventually moved her to the big bath and bought a bath mat and just filled the tub with a couple inches of water and laid her on her back.

I also heard sitting them in the bumbo in the tub works too.

  • Am i the only one that doesnt use any of that stuff.. i used to use a towel folded at one end (like a pillow) and just lay it on the bottom of the tub. Now i bought a sponge thing that she can lay on and still kick her feet and go crazy..

  • We have the summer right height tub which works but he is starting to slide out of the foamy green seat... I'll post a link if I can figure out how to do it from my phone. I too want to know what to do with him when he slides out of it but can't sit On his own yet.

  • We have one of these which you put in the regular tub for him to sit on. Works great. https://www.amazon.com/PRI-Infant-Bath-Seat-White/dp/B000BXJZDY/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1328930976&sr=8-7 and it's cheap too :)
