Second appt...happiness

Yesterday was my second appointment I was really nervous because I have really begun to research my options for birthing.  Originally I wanted an epi because I have a broken tailbone and if it was going to break again I didn't want to feel it. After reading, it seems like a NB where I can change positions would actually do the best to predict my tailbone.

So I had no idea where my OB practice stood on this, I know the hospital is fine with it and has many in-suite alternative options, soaking tub, birthing balls, squatting bar, etc. Well the OB said the practice absolutely supports my decision to go intervention free as long as we are both ok. YEAH! She even suggested I find a doula to help guide me thru my labor.

Other than that it was my DH first time hearing the heartbeat, a healthy 155. He turned bright red! On a cool note, I have been pretty sure I have been able to feel my LO for a while so I told the OB where I thought it was for her to look for the HB and I was dead-ON.

Sorry this post is so long it was just such an encouraging appointment that I couldn't hold it in! I also got to schedule my A/S for March 7th, this will be a long 4 weeks.

  • Congratulations! So glad to hear your doctor is so supportive of your decision, I get to have this same discussion with mine tomorrow >.<! The best thing to do is know ALL your options and even if you're trying for a natural birth and you end up needing and epi or something then don't worry about it because if that's what it takes to deliver a healthy baby then you should feel great about it.

I really recommend 'Your Best Birth', my doctor told me to stay far far away from 'What to Expect When Your Expecting'.

  • Happy for youSmile Ouch on the broken tail bone. I sure hope it doesn't break again!

  • It's really awesome to hear that from your OB. Mine is the same way and I feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds that way. Hopefully, I'm not being a naive FTM, because I have this horrible fear every now and then that when I get to the hospital, everything will change and the nurses won't let me go without the monitor or get up or eat or anything...but maybe I'm just paranoid.

Anyway, congrats on having a great OB! My best wishes for the safety of your tailbone during delivery!
