How many bottles/nipples do I need to buy?

I plan on using Born Free bottles, unless LO doesn't like them. The question is how many bottles will I need? How many of each size (5 oz & 9 oz)? Also, how many nipples?

I would like to have enough so I am not constantly re-washing bottles, but I also don't want to waste my money on more than is needed.

I am sure by this post you can tell I am a FTM, so all advice/recommendations are welcomed! Thanks!

  • don't get more than 4 in each size (small and large)...then you will hate having to wash them all together (4 of each is plenty in my opinion).  You may want to get different flow nipples (1 per bottle in each flow size)

Until you know what Lo prefers, just get 3 or 4 of the 5oz and slow flow nipples to start. You can always get more as you know you need them.

I second this.  You only need the slow flow (stage 1?) nipples to start.  Don't buy the next size yet just in case you need to switch bottles.  You will know right away if LO likes them or not...so you can send DH out to pick up a few more if they work out :)

I agree with these gals. Who knew babies could be so picky, but they can! Same with pacifiers (if you are using them).

  • Thanks everyone! Probably take your advice and start off with just buying the smaller bottles.
