If you would like the opportunity to make true real life friends that you can interact with as a person and not a screenname, then the FB page is for you. There are several girls who have already met up with each other. There are meetups scheduled for groups that live close together. It's a more personal experience that could give you the potential to make life long friends.
If all you want to know is why your vag is extra soggy this month, then TB can provide you with those answers.
But then again, all the nice ladies on the FB page would be glad to talk about your soggy vag without being judgemental, so it's just a matter of personal preference.
I personally like to lurk on TB and avoid the drama that it comes with and participate on the FB page
I agree... I lurk TB and participate on FB...
Also if there was a "Like" button on TB I would have "Liked" your post...
Score another point for facebook....

I spend my time between both here and the FB page. For me, I always felt like this board was always a bit slow compared to other BMBs. We would post a FFFC and only a few people would contribute, same thing with HDBD. If you look at March or any other BMB they have 40+ more contributing to those posts.
For me I like the FB page because it is faster paced and we talk about everything and anything. It's not just symptoms, TMI questions, or name questions. Yes it can get a bit confusing, but I just don't worry about catching up on everything. I have my settings so that the most recent comment or post pops up on the top of the group feed and I'll read that and go down. The search feature is so much easier to use and I like that you can call out specific names instead of quoting entire posts.
Don't get me wrong, I like TB too, but I feel like it's always been a bit too much puppies and rainbows on this board and has always been slow, not just since the FB group started. If I ask a question on FB, I know that I'll get answers right away.

I was going to say - I love to post about my extra saggy vag.
I lurk here and post more on FB. The biggest problem I have with TB is that every post seems to be the same questions....FB has more topics and some non baby related. Also, I have a lot of problems with TB loading and posts showing up and whatnot!
I still enjoy both boards but since I have not had interesting to post I havn't had much to add to this page. I still spend a lot of time on other boards....I guess I am just getting to the point in my pregnancy where I am spending more time reading more about CDing, working moms, stay at home moms, newborn/parenting advice and less time about "month specific" things.
Your posts are as private as you want them to be. Nothing you post in the group is broadcast to your other facebook friends.
Notifications can be turned off. You can unfollow any post you comment on and no longer want updates on.
The ONLY facebook person that can see everything is me. I have access to all of your pages but I've only visited under the May Moms name once when that person turned out to be a multiple lurking troll and I was checking to see if she was a real person...which she was in fact not. I respect everyones privacy and do not look. I have friended people under my name and yes I have visited their pages that way. You do not have to be friends with anyone but May mom to be a part of the may group and if your settings are set correctly other members can only see your profile picture and name.
For those of you who are happy knocking the facebook group, if you haven't joined then please just leave it alone. If you are a member of the facebook group and don't post and still don't like it, its super easy to delete it. We don't flame over there so there is no reason to remain a member to lurk.
If anything the only place I've ever felt out of place in is The Bump. This is the only place where my posts have been virtually ignored, my choices have been questioned, and the only place I've seen a bunch of people flame and be rude. I stood up for someone once and someone else responded "if you don't like it, leave" so I did.
Teanna, I am glad you posted on fb too. I hope you stick around some there so we can get to know you better.
I accepted 30 people today on fb. I am sorry if you sent an invite and I didn't respond. Last week was my long week at work (5 12-14 hour shifts) so I haven't logged in to the May group much.

I'll be sticking around here for sure! Due to my job, I have my FB settings so that only friends can see anything, May moms who aren't my FB friends, which would be everyone, won't be able to see my posts anyway.
TTC #1 Since 01.2010 | Cycle 19: BFP 09.17.11 | Baby girl born on her due date 05.23.12
I'm not trying to talk you into it but I've tried to clear the air a bit about the group & that is not how the group works. If you join the group you are allowing those people to see your posts within the group only. They wouldn't be able to see your daily status updates etc but if you post to the group everyone will see.

I know the intent wasn't to split the board but it clearly did, Especially when posters here are basically saying "join the FB group if you want to make lifelong friends, stay here if you want to talk about soggy vaginas" or whatever. Um middle ground please?
I fully understand how privacy settings work on FB and I have mine mastered, but it still doesn't mean I'm 100%comfortable sharing my name and that minimal info on there. But I don't judge (or begrudge) those who do, it just makes me kind of sad in a pathetic way. I never got really invested on TTGP bc I couldn't chat, and most of the stuff happened in the chat room, and now I feel like this is the same way. All the comments about "how busy the FB group is".... If half of those posts were here this board would pick up.
So basically - I'm fine not joining the FB group, but I wish whenever a new poster posted here the first response wasn't "come join us on Facebook" or that the reason this board has gotten so slow wasn't bc of Facebook. I'm on otther boards with FB groups that did not have this negative effect on the board, so I'm not sure whats going on here, but it is what it is, and I guess this will just be a quieter BMB.
I am a part of a few fb groups too, and you are right none of them took off like this group did. It just happened. I'm sorry that there is a great divide and obviously people are upset about it. I'm just saying, the only people that I've seen picking sides are people over here. It looks like my side has been picked for me.
I wasn't even going to post in here, but I was trying to find the middle ground too. You might understand the privacy settings but other people clearly don't. I thought if I explained it, it would help.
I tried. Sorry.

I mean, obviously you don't have to join, but just to educate you - once you became a part of the secret group, the only people who would see your posts in said group would be the other members (aka the May moms). No one you were friends with on Facebook would see the posts you made in the group and, if your privacy settings are as you say they are, no one from the group would see your posts unless you were literally friends with them on Facebook. Again, this is not to persuade you to join, but there may be someone reading this who is getting the wrong idea based on your incorrect information.

I post on both and will continue to do so, but the personal levels of friendship that come from a social media site where things are just that much more "real" are just better, IMO. I like both places and I'll stay on both places. The Facebook page just makes it much more easier, especially when I'm on my phone and would love an instant response (and have gotten so many). I've gotten great support from The Bump and I'm glad that I came here/continue to come here, because obviously none of us would have met - Facebook page or not - were it not for the Bump, if that makes sense. But I do feel that the FB page has brought many of us closer together... and then there are many people who joined who don't post at all, so... to each his own and it is what you make it.
Just so you know, if you are interested in keeping up with a post, you can just click "follow post" or "follow thread" something like that, while on Facebook! Also, the thing I love about the threads in Facebook is that you can mention a person's name directly if/when you are responding to them and they will definitely get a notification for that and that way they will not miss your response to them.
Thanks Danielle! It's time for me to get to know my FB better.
