Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Difference between Similac Advanced + Grow and Go?

My daughter is formula fed and has always been on Similac. I noticed today while I was picking up Similac Advanced, that there was also a choice between Grow and Go, which is from 9 months-24 months.

Is there any big difference? Should I be switching her when she turns 9 months?

Re: Difference between Similac Advanced + Grow and Go?

  • Thanks!

My husband is really pushing the extra calcium--our daughter is a very active peanut :) And even though I told him no real milk until at least 11 or 12 months, he still wants her to have real milk. (Actually the reason why he wants her to have real milk is so that we will have whole milk in our house again. Right now I only buy the 1% stuff and he loves whole milk)

But it just made me wonder if there was a big difference between the two--especially because many times by us the Similac Advance is out of stock but they do have the Grow and Go in stock.

I definitely will ask the pedi next visit.

  • If it were me, I wouldn't worry about it. I'd probably compare labels next time I went shopping.

What I think it is, is that some LO's who are past 12 months still need formula because they are having trouble putting on weight or having trouble growing. So therefore they make formula that goes to 24 months instead of the standard similac that only goes to age 12 months.

It may have something in it to help with putting on weight? That would be my guess. Bottom line, I don't think it's something to worry about putting her on.
