How was your weekend?

What did you do this weekend?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • Pretty much the same as usual.

Friday - met K at the chiropractor directly from work.  Then the three of us went out for a yummy dinner that included the world's best hummus.

Saturday - Jelly Bean and I ran a few errands then stayed home to work on potty training.  She peed and pooped in the toilet more times than I can count and only had one accident.

Sunday - more of the same.  DD used the potty all day while I tried to do a few house projects.  We made a quick trip to the store. Then after a failed attempt to get her to nap we met K for dinner at a sports bar.  Too many wings, drinks, and cheesecake were eaten but it was worth it.

  • Friday night we took the kids to the party store and to Target to get stuff for our family Super Bowl party.

Saturday morning we woke to a 63 degree house and no heat. L called the repair service and headed out to the gym and to get her hair done while I stayed home with the kids to wait. Lo and behold, it was fixed within 2 hrs! The kids and I had a lazy morning playing, doing taxes, working on Valentines Day cards, etc. When L got home, she finished reading the 3rd Harry Potter book to the kids while I napped. And then we started watching the HP movie. We all went to the Japanese Steakhouse with friends for dinner. I was up multiple times during the night with Carter coughing.

Sunday Carter and I slept in till 7:45 (the latest I think I have slept in  in YEARS!) L was going to take the kids to the gym while she worked out so I could have some alone time, but Carter was hacking his head off so he stayed home with me. When Gray and L got home, we headed to lunch, a visit to Whole Foods, and to get wings and queso. Home to watch the rest of Harry Potter. Then L and I did something we've never done. We sent the kids downstairs to play and we hung out in bed watching tv - for over an hour. It was so nice and relaxing. I love having slightly older kids.Wink We started our Super Bowl party and the kids remained interested through most of the 2nd quarter and then they were done. Put the kids to bed and then flipped between DVR and the end of the game. I was up with Carter 4x last night. It solidified that there will never be a newborn in our house again.

Today we have our big parent/teacher conference. My stomach is in knots, which is stupid because we've been repeatedly told that this isn't a big deal...but it feels like a big deal.

  • Friday night we went to Target and Trader Joe's, I made an easy dinner and then packed the big bookcase while we watched TV. It took longer than I expected and I didn't finish until after midnight.

Saturday I worked out while Jen slept late, and then we had to leave since there was an open house from 1-4p. We went to Silver Spring and had Lebanese food and saw The Artist. Jen really didn't want to see it, but we both loved it. Lazy night at home.

Sunday was much the same, except that I spent the morning curled up in bed with coffee and The Hunger Games. Heaven. We spent the open house wandering around furniture stores trying couches we didn't like, and then at Barnes & Noble where I read some more and Jen worked on something. We watched some Puppy Bowl, some DVR, and the last 5 minutes of the Super Bowl when we got home.

glad you got a nice break!

  • Fri: DW ended up buying a tv from her work (got a great deal at like 600 off the in store price) but we still had to go to the electronics store after work. Angry From there we went to get baskets for this bookshelf thing we bought a few months ago. We stopped ot get food on the way home and since it was way past Ky's bedtime she had a meltdown. Our friend K came in to stay the weekend and I ended up going to the grocery with her at midnight. By the time we went to check out they refused to sell me the alcohol I needed to make these frozen drinks for Saturday because it was after 1 AM.

Sat: Up early so I could hit the store so I could get the drinks in the freezer. I came home to make drinks, cake, breakfast. By the time that was all done places were actually open for the day so I ran a few errands then hom to clean. I dropped Ky off at my mom's and went home to get ready. DW got off a bit late and was just getting dressed when our friends started arriving. The party was fun and the drinks had set (yeah!). We played pool and games and had a good time.

Sun: DW got up at 8 (after going to bed around 2 AM) and was WIDE awake...sigh. So we got up and got ready for the day. We picked up Ky and went to meet the ILs family for lunch. When we got home our friends (a few from out of town stayed the night) were up and we decided to go to the mall for a bit. Ky was cranky from lack of nap and had a massive meltdown while I was trying on shoes. We picked up CHipotle on the way home and our friends stayed to watch the super bowl. Ky conked out early and slept great thanks to the humidifier we bought even if her room did smell gross.

  • Way to go JB on the potty training!! When will they let you send her to daycare in undies?

Our weekend was pretty standard...and went way too fast. Friday we got chinese takeout and had a friend over.  It was nice to chat after the kids went to bed (and they did, just fine - DW was right on this one).  Saturday morning we went to the diner for breakfast then A and the kids hung out at home while I hit up the grab bag sale at once upon a child.  OMG it was insanely packed! But, i got some great deals - and, for the first time ever, bought a bunch of clothes for next season Smile

Then I did some grocery shopping and arrived home to a quiet house with all kids in their rooms resting.  lovely. In the afternoon we had friends over for a playdate and make-your-own-pizzas.  The kids had a blast and it was nice to see our friends again.

Sunday morning we went to Church then went to a burgers/milkshakes place for lunch (whoops, apparently we ate out way too much this weekend!).  Then A went into work and I went home with the kids.  Nap was a big old fail.  So we made valentines, prepped a bunch of apps for dinner, got super messy in the bathtub with colored shaving cream, took a bath, and went for a walk.  When A got home we had a yummy appetizer dinner, read books, did puzzles, and put exhausted kids to bed at 6:30. love those nights!

  • Fri: Had a nice dinner with our top-floor neighbors at Ten Tables, a little restaurant in our neighborhood that ROCKS the world of food. Had rabbit for the first time. Will definitely have rabbit again. Wink Had a fight with K when we got home. Talked it out.

Saturday: Signed P&S in the a.m. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Had lunch with friends we hadn't seen in a long time. Took a nap. Had a fight with K. Talked it out.

Sunday: Had a fight with K. Went to church. Talked it out. Had lunch and talked some more. J got super fussy right before K's sister and boys were supposed to arrive for Super Bowlness. He ended up with a fever of 102 - his very first time being sick... He woke up three times during the night, but by this morning the fever had broken. Poor baby! Oh, yeah - had a fight with K again. Talked it out.

I think I'm having a harder time, emotionally, with what happened in Brazil than I thought I would. I'm very sensitive. K is super bossy and not listening. Doesn't make for fun times. Sad

I'm so sorry :(   do you think there is any benefit to writing K a letter about it?

  • 2 brides- The answer to your question from the weekend plans thread...We occassionaly go to friday BINGO at Arthur Slade School near BWI.  We live right on Route 2 so this is super close for us.

Friday- Went to Bingo and left with more money than I went in with so I was super happy about that.

Saturday-Thanks to my lovely back I spent all day on the couch mustering enough energy to go out to dinner for a friend's bday.

Sunday-  Back took a turn for the worse so I took a trip to the ER.  Some major pain drugs, a stronger muscle relaxer, and an order for bed rest until Wed or Thurs.  If it isnt better by then it is MRI time to make sure I didn't slip a disk.  UGGGGG.  This is not convenient just as my semester is heating up.

We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
  • Friday: Clinical hours at the drop in group in the morning, then I met C at work at 1pm and we went to lunch downtown at a little cafe we used to attend semi-regularly when she worked down there. Then we went to the aquarium to see the baby sea otter (so cute!). Afterward we walked around Pike Place and Queen Anne Hill doing touristy/local stuff. Then we had dinner at home before I worked overnight.

Saturday: I came home to sleep and then skipped a (non-mandatory) annual meeting for one of my professional organizations. C and I had a relaxing day at home and then ran errands in the evening. We came home and had dinner and watched a movie. It was lovely!

Sunday: We slept in together and then I made food and went to a new book club made up of alums from my grad program. We mainly talked about the Hunger Games and decided to make that next month's book and go see the movie together. I went to the grocery store and then came home to read Catching Fire (the second book, which I borrowed from the book club host). We made our separate dinners and ate together. Then in the evening we began what will most likely be a long process of determining next career steps for C/both of us.

  • Friday: It did not get off to a great start. C was stuck in traffic so the Kiddos and I had to wait in the foyer of the daycare for a half an hour. Being with two tired and hungry Kiddos who want to go home and are bored did not make for fun times. After C picked us up, we went home, and sadly got into a quibble that resulted in me leaving the house to take a drive (I ended up picking up my scripts and went back home?I had forgotten my phone). When I arrived home, C had the Kiddos? dinner ready and I sat and ate with them. It was my night to put the Kiddos to bed, but after they went to sleep, C and I had a long talk. I think it was a well-needed past-due conversation. Tears fell on both ends, but I think it was the first time since the Kiddos were born that we actually heard each other.

Saturday: Was a cold but a fun day. The air seemed so much lighter in the house (I am so happy we talked). I started cleaning out the van while I was trying to jumpstart my old van?only to have the cable connector break (it had rusted out). During this time, C was in the backyard playing with the Kiddos (and poopy scooping). C and I switched, she finished the van and I washed the Kiddos and made lunch. They were so happy when it was naptime and slept for 2+ hours. Saturday evening we went out to dinner with a friend from church. She and the Kiddos got along really well.

Sunday: Thankfully, C offered to take the Kiddos to Church while I did laundry and some picking up around the house. I take my hat off to her because I know how hard it is to handle the Kiddos at Church with both of us there. I know I should have gone to Church but I need to have all the laundry done before Thursday?s trip.

I was looking forward to the Super Bowl and C said it was okay for the Kiddos to watch the game up until bedtime. You can tell they do not watch much TV, DS was interested for about 15 minutes, and DD for about a half an hour. Then they wanted to play. It was hilarious, I was trying to interact with them by spinning them in separate laundry baskets while trying to watch the game?I never noticed them turning green. C ran to the store to pick up some snacks and things we needed (Target was empty). I turned off the set at half time to get the Kiddos ready for bed. C was going to be the one to put them to bed, but half way into it the attempt she had a coughing fit. She has yet to get over her cough (she had pneumonia and I think it has returned). Though she was willing to stay with the Kiddos, I told her I would finish up. I missed the whole third quarter, but it was worth it?C made chili con queso while I was in the Kiddos? room?YUM YUM!

I was happy with the outcome of the game, more so because Eli was one of my fantasy football quarterbacks, (Michael Vick was the other). Neither teams are my favorite, but I was still pumped for the game and my heart was racing when Brady had 57 seconds.

That is about it, a nice and relaxing weekend!

  • Friday: I went out for happy hour after work to celebrate a good friend leaving our firm and going in-house. It was bittersweet. I am very happy for her, but will miss working with her a lot!

Saturday: Eli got sick in the middle of the night. He seemed fine in the morning, but we laid low most of the day anyway, just in case. Lots of stories and snuggling. We did manage to get the house picked up and groceries for the week.

Sunday: Lex and I went to church in the morning. We were going to go to a Super Bowl party, but we didn't want to risk it in case Eli was actually sick as the hosts have a 1 year old. So, we went over to my in-laws instead. We don't let the kids have screen time, but we made an exception for the game. I think Eli watched maybe 10 minutes total and Lex half that. Eli, however, kept yelling at the players to "stop running--walk now"  We tried to explain how football works, but I am guessing we will hear something about running when we pick up at daycare tonight Wink  We left mid-way through the half-time show and stopped at Lowes on the way home (Kel stayed in the car with the sleeping kids). I was literally the only customer there, but I got what I needed and we were home in time to watch the last five minutes of the game. I was rooting for the Giants so I am glad they won--but I only picked them because it is Eli Manning Smile. Otherwise, I like both teams about the same.

  • Even weekend days go slowly during the two week wait.

Friday we watched Larry Crowne at home together.  Saturday we did errands, made a dessert, and went to a friend's home for dinner.  Sunday we did household stuff and sort of half watched the Superbowl and then I practiced a work presentation on DW.  We're both itching for change in our lives, but the change we really want is a pregnancy...  (Or you know, to win the lottery.)

As part of our errands we stopped at Carter's to get a shower present for DW's relative.  I must have had a look in my eye or something, because I was only holding one thing and the sales lady brought me a shopping bag.

  • ugh, I had a miserable weekend. I was so sick last week, I came down with a fever Wednesday and it didn't break until sometime late Friday/early Saturday. Saturday my wife was working OT and even though my fever had broken even the littlest thing was exhausting and I still felt miserable. so, the boy and I spent lots of time watching Richard Scarey's Busytown Mysteries and Animal Planet. I did manage to strip the bed and wash the sheets and do another load of laundry, and get the kitchen cleaned up, with lots of breaks.

Sunday I was feeling well enough for us to go to church, then we headed home and didn't do much. my sister came over and we watched the Superbowl.

  • It went by fast!  We ran a lot of errands, bought dresses for the girls, watched the Super Bowl, had brunch with the IL's, spent time at the park and enjoyed delicious homemade pot pies.
  • What we didn't do?  Visits with Pumpkin's sisters.  Several calls to social worker today... hopefully things are set for next weekend.

L was under the weather  ( I knew how sick she was when Pumpkin woke up about 9pm, I asked if she wanted to feed him (I was bringing him to her on the couch) and she asked if I would!)

Low-key, catch-up on stuff around the house.

  • Friday: My parents picked E up because her school closed early for the big all-school performance of countries of the world. I left work and went straight to the church to save our seats. My brother and SIL joined my folks and I for the big night. E's class did songs and dance from China and it was of course very cute and I'm not the least bit biased or anything!

Saturday: We went to brunch at a favorite local place with my parents. This restaurant has a full on perfect picture window view of Mt. Rainier on a clear day and it was breathtaking. After brunch we took E to the pet store so grandma and grandpa could buy E three more fish for her aquarium. Then my folks left to spend the rest of the weekend at my brother's place. E and a friend from her class have been begging for a playdate so I called and made arrangements. We kind of split the time between their house and ours since the dad was at home solo since mom was at work. It was ok, but by the end of the afternoon the other girl was in tears and throwing a fit about not getting to have a sleepover and E got sucked into the tears and I was SO over it. I struggle with E being friends with this girl who exhibits behaviors that are not acceptable (nor practiced) in my house. After that, we grabbed pizza to cook at home and tried to find something short to watch before bedtime so we could cuddle on the couch.

Sunday: E hasn't seen her paternal grandparents since Christmas, so I had made plans for her to spend some time with them. They asked to take her to the zoo since it was a nice day. I took advantage of the time to go to work and finish cleaning out my office. I made it home in time to catch Madonna and then ran to the store (deserted!) for a few things and cooked dinner before E came home. Last night we had a loud windstorm and then E woke from a bad dream at 4am and snuggled in with me, so I am all kinds of tired today.
