Pregnant after IF

Question about a couple baby items

DH and I plan on registering for the Chicco Keyfit 30 Cortina Travel System.  We are having a boy, but even before finding that out I loved the azura color of this item.  I guess my question is does this look like it is TOO "boy" if we have another baby in the future and it's a girl?  (I realize this is a HUGE "if"...for all we know we're one and done since it took us so much to get here, and I know this seems silly but it's still something we're wondering about.)

Also we really love this bedding.  It's listed under neutral on BBB's site but DH keeps saying, "Are you sure it doesn't look too girly?"  Well no, DH, I didn't but now that you keep asking I'm wondering it myself!

Just wondering what your opinions are on the travel system color and bedding too!  I'm so excited we're at the point where we can start to register for this stuff!  We just bought all of our nursery furniture today too...SO exciting!!

Re: Question about a couple baby items

  • Re: the travel system -- if you use it alot, it may not even hold up for re-use with a second baby anyway, so I say, get what you like.

The bedding set looks totally neutral to me.  I would definitely not think "girly" when looking at it.

  • I love the travel system. You can always get away with blue for girls, just don't get a pink one for a boy! That's just my opinion. I thought the bedding looked girly. Cute, but girly. Sorry!

  • I love the colors of the travel system.  I'm not sure if I would use it for a girl, but my sister mentioned that you can sometimes call the company and order new covers.

I'm indifferent about the bedding.  I would have to see it in person.  The pictures make it look slightly pink tinted.  Is it cream?  If it's cream, it's fine.  It's cute.

  • I say get the car seat that you love it is very boy but that is what you are having.  If you ever did have a girl you could just get a new cover in a different color and sometimes kids are really hard on them and you need a new cover anyways.  The bedding in my opinion is very girly.  Sorry.

  • The stroller to me is very masculine but you as others have said can just replace the covers, however the bedding is very girly to me, sorry!

  • I also absolutely love the color of the blue Chicco system, was kinda bummed it didn't come in a double. The bedding is a little feminine IMO, but it's in a layette style. Honestly, I don't think either really matter. I never understand why everything has to be so strictly color coded, like it's going to impact their orientation or something. I say get what you like, while trying not to over think what may or may not happen in the future or what other ppl think.

  • I say who cares! If you like it go for it! If we have girls the room will still be blue. Your bedding is neutral.
  • love the travel system, i love blue, even though we don't know what we're having, i registered for a lot of blue things, like my pack&play, i think blue works both ways nowadays!

and i think the bedding is totally neutral, very very cute!!!

isn't this so much fun?? we just did our registry too!

    good luck!

  • love the travel system color! We got the keyfits and double stroller in Fuego at  my shower. I would use that for either sex. The bedding looks a little girly to me (not sure if that's a pink elephant).

  • I'm so excited for you to be at this point!

A couple comments on your items - I have always read to avoid travel systems because they are bulky and aren't as good as buying a carseat and stroller separately.  I'm not sure how true that is, but I was thinking maybe you could get the carseat in the pattern you like this for this little guy and then a neutral stroller that you could use with him and any future LO's.  We got the Snugride 30 and then the Snugrider stroller (borrowed from a friend) to use at first.  We have the Citi Mini (in green) to transition to after she's done with the current set-up.

About the bedding - I know there are a lot of opinions on both sides about bumpers, but we avoided them due to the suffocation risks.  I just noticed on your bedding set that the bumper is the most important part of the design, so I proabably wouldn't have gone with this set.  I got a cute crib skirt and sheet and then a quilt that goes over the back of our glider.

    Enjoy making your registry!! Smile

  • I love the color of your stoller and car seat - I think they are fine for your boy now and for a girl if you have one later.  Remember, before there were so many choices in color and stroller type they were usually a darker color.  They never used to make gender specific anything.  Besides, if you have two babies close together, you may very well end up buying a double stroller.

I guess I am in the minority because I do think the bedding looks gender neutral, but if I were you I would be more inclined to go with a more gender specific set.  Bedding is more likely something you would replace for another baby I would think.  The baby will end up peeing and pooping on it and getting sick on it - it could get stained.  I would rather my kids use the same stroller, but each have their own bedding sets.  Just my opinion though.

  • I wouldn't worry too much about the travel system, like others have said you may not be able to reuse it anyway due to using it so much with the first one, and possible changes in safety standards between now and then.

The bedding initially read girl for me, on my monitor it looked like the reverse side was pink and that it had pink accents in it.  When I clicked to look at in a room, I could see it better and tell it wasn't pink but cream.  I think it is fine for a boy or girl.

I have found that my husband thinks most sweet baby things automatically read girl, even if they are really for a boy or gender neutral.  I think men expect boy baby stuff to be very manly.

  • I like the travel system. I bought a stroller that is red/gray so it will work for either boy or girl. But, IMO, your bedding looks girly, I think the tint of pink or peach is throwing me off.

  • I say get what you want...we got a gender neutral one for DD -- but because of IF it took us so long to conceive again, that the carseat has expired anyhow!

And I also think blue is fine for a girl :)

  • My friend has the bedding (for her boy). The coloring on the website makes it look more pinkish than it really does. It definitely doesn't scream boy boy boy (as in all blue with baseballs and such) but it is very neutral in a nursery.
