he stops every single time!

DH can't feel baby kick or move, becase every single time he puts his hand on my belly our little baby stops moving! It is so strange! He will even keep his hand still for about 10 minutes, and nothing, then as soon as he takes his hand off baby will move again! Any one have this experience? Solutions?

Re: he stops every single time!

  • my daughter does the exact same thing.

i told my husband i was going to wake him up at night so he could get her to stop moving when i'm trying to sleep.

  • Maybe your LO can sense his hand (warmth?)?  The other day, my DH put his ice cold hand on my belly and that really got LO going.
  • The exact thing happened to me and my husband.  Every single time he moved his hand or looked away was when she would kick or move.  Try a bath.  It worked for us.  He finally felt her after I had been soaking in a warm bath for about 20 minutes.  Hope this helps =)
  • LO does this or some version of it all the time. She'll be on a roll. As soon as I say, "See, look!", or "Feel this!" She stops.
  • Lol...this happens to my husband and parents too! Everytime LO will be going crazy in there...then I call for someone to come quick and sure enough hand on belly and movement stops. I think we might try a flashlight and see if that does anything to get LO going!

  • Thins happened in the beginning with my husband, and I figured out it was because he was putting too much pressure on my belly.  As soon as he started just gently resting his hand he was able to feel the baby.
  • My LO does the same thing - we always call it "The calming presence of Dad" and hope it continues once she is born!
  • Yep, same thing here. Give it time. As the baby grows he will move more and the movements will be more easily felt by you and dad.

  • My LO does the exact same thing.  I've even had DH put his hand on my belly a couple nights when he was having a dance party while I was trying to fall asleep and it worked like a charm.  Smile

DH finally felt him last week and loved it.

  • My baby has been tap dancing on my ribs for weeks now. I do everything I can to move her, but it just doesn't work.

My hubs, on the other hand, could get her to move head-down if she was breech, I believe. He can get her to move off my ribs, away from my sciatic nerve, and settle down when she won't let me sleep.

She used to "hide" from him, but we were really persistent with him putting his hands on my belly and talking to her. They seem to be best buds now! Persistence is my only advice! Good luck!

  • This happened to me as well.  Over time, as our little boy became more active and began running out of room, dad felt him (and saw him) move regularly.  Don't get discouraged as I think this is a fairly common phenomenon early on.

  • DS was like this. DH only felt him a couple times the whole pregnancy. I don't really have any solutions; some babies are just stubborn ;)

  • Yes this happens all the time, my mom hasn't even felt her move.  My hubby has to lay in bed with me and but his hand on my tummy for a long time before he feels her move.
  • happens for us too. But the past week, she is more active and feels closer to the surface (bigger I suppose), so he did find a hard bit (a foot?) and pressed it and got a reaction. He was in awe!  And now he can sometimes see the ripplings and stuff too.

He is a bit impatient though, which is why he doens't always feel stuff. After a few seconds of his hand being there he takes it away.

I feel sad for him that he can't carry her for a day, it is such a cool feeling! Also of course a day without pain, constant peeing and a good nights sleep would be pretty sweet..haha

  • LO did this for the longest time-everytime I would call DH over to feel him kick he would stop! Turns out our son is kind of an "eaves dropper" he stops moving everytime DH or I start talking and he seems to just listen. So I made a point not to talk to him when DS started moving. DH finally felt him kick real hard one night while we were just cuddling together. Now I can't wait until he gets to see DS make my stomach jerk when he kicks. He's going to flip!
